[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Model R6601 Question

On the original release of this model there was no Bayo lug, is that correct? I saw a chart somewhere in these forums and it has this model with "no" in the table for a bayo lug. I ask because I just bought one that I thought was in original condition and now I'm not so sure. Any help would be appreciated.

According to my table neither the R6601 or the MT6601 came with a bayo lug.

I had a former Colt R6600 AR-15A2 HBAR Sporter in '85 and it had a bayonet lug (green label box).

I also remember that this model was replaced by the R6601 Sporter Match HBAR around '90 and it didn't have any more bayonet lug (blue label box).

Go to team member's Ekie's "Colt 6600 and 6601 HBAR Data Base" thread and ask him, maybe it could be clarified there.

Why are you unsure about your R6601? Does it have a bayolug? Does the rollmark say "Sporter Match HBar" or "AR-15A2 HBar Sporter"?
I have a R6600K that doesn't have a bayolug, built in 1990.

My 6601 had NO bayo lug, had a sear block and had a removable A2 flash suppressor.

I'm asking because my AR upper has the bayo lug, but I thought the R6601 original upper had no lug. I justr want tomake sure I got what I wanted. It does say COLT SPOTER MATCH HBAR on the lower.

My 6601 Sporter HBar didn't come with a Bayonet lug or a sear block

Call Colt on Monday 1-800-962-2658 and give them the serial number and they can give you a year in which the rifle was made

I just noticed the pic in your thread

I would bet that the Upper was changed out, or I have seen a few (Very few) Colt 6551's that have came from the factory with A1 uppers and 20" Govt profile barrel
