I finally managed to get my QRP mount spacer for my Aimpoint mount and get it installed.
(Big props to Steve @ Adco firearms for that. Called them on a Friday and had it the following Monday).

I've heard here on the board that it is better to mount it as far forward as you can.

Would this be a decent enough position or should I move it back some?

Put the Aimpoint where it is most comfortable for you. I generally like mine in the middle of the weapon.

Some people like it farther out than that, other like it closer in, go with whatever works for you.

Maybe the position can help balance the AR if done right???

Like everyone else said, find what works for you.  I used to have mine very far forward.  I found that it made the weapon much more front heavy than I was happy with so I moved it back.  Mine sits on the very forward edge of the upper receiver.

My personal preference is to mount it on the most forward position of my upper receiver.

If I ever get a NV in the future I'll just switch to a canti mount to have enough room on the upper.

And less forgiveness of the placement of your head.

When I had my aimpoint, I liked it best set at the end of the Receiver, Right before the handguards. Test  out what works best for you.
