look into the leupold mark 4 MR/T, LR/T. I have the LR/T 3.5x10 x40 with the TMR reticle.
If you shoot the 77gr ammo the spr is meant to shoot then the TMR has the proper bullet drop for it. |

Most folks find a 2.5-10, 3.5-10 range about right for the SPR. Nightforce, Leupold, IOR all make some scopes in this range.

How far do you intend to shoot?
My max target range is usually what drives the power range of my optic, but different strokes for different folks

Yep... that about sums it up. Been my experience that most people tend to over scope guns, this is one case where more is not always better... also depends on what you intend to shoot at these yet unknown ranges. |

I love the CQ/T for 1X use. For anything else, I pretty much have to reset where it is on the rail to be comfy. (eye relief) And it is obviously a lot of clunk for a 1X optic. Just my two cents.

I shoot out to about 300 yrds, just was wondering if I can use my existing 2X ACOG or save up enough to get a new scope.... with the holidays and such just passed... $$$ is tight

JTAC built me an awesome mid length upper on a recon'ish barrel that shoots like a dream. I went dual pupose on it, now it has a Leupy 1.5x5 MRT on it in a LT SPR mount and a Eotech 511 in a LT mount as well. It was built just for the practical rifle matches I shoot and it's first time out I managed to place 4th with it, using the eotech. I went with the Luepy as well as I can still shoot with both eyes open, quickly on 1.5 and if I needed to take a target at longer range, say 300 the 5x is more than enough to score precise hits. For quick shooting, even out to 300 10x seems to be too much IMHO. If you have the time, then 10x works great, or more, but just isn't realistic for closer range engagments and the weight of such a rig throws me off as well. |

I would think that the 2x scope would be a touch light for shooting an SPR to its potential. Although you could do it fairly well, I am sure.

i have a shcmidt and bender short dot..thats just what works for me..and your decision should be made on what works for you..so if you can hit a 600yrd steel plate accuratly with a bsa red dot then get one of those...really go to the local shop pick up a few scopes take a look through them...read some reviews then make a choice based on what works for you the best

I got a 4X ACOG on my AR10 currently...problem is my AR10 ACOG is calibrated for 308..

Dont worry about that, you'll probablly never notice the difference in the BDC. I've had no problem hitting what I want at 600yds with a 4X optic. |

The Leupold M/RT series is about ideal for SPR type guns (shooting at distance), I'd reccomend the 1.5-5X or the 3-9X, depending on how far you want to shoot and the size of the targets being engaged.

Honestly, after shooting a Crane SPR I felt that 10X was too little. If all you want is minute of torso then I am sure 9 or 10X on the high end is fine but if you want first round hits on smaller objects you need more power. When I build my .308 AR10 it will sport a max power in the 12-18X range. Then again my eyes must not be as good as the other shooters here.

The trajectory of the NATO 75-77gr rounds is very similar to the 7.62 rounds the ACOG was calibrated for. Somewhere around here is a thread where Bartholomew_Roberts figured out how to zero different ACOGs to have the most accurate BDC with different ammo and barrel length.... |

Thanks for the advice guys, I ended up putting my ACOG TA01B 4X on my SPR and sold my compact ACOG 2X, I just bought a 10X IOR 56mm and it fit my AR10 carbine perfectly... Now all I need is a scope for my AR10T...

I got a ACOG TA01NSN to use when I build mine. I think 4X is enough out to 300 yards. My other thought is to get a Tasco SS 10X later to try.

Huge difference after 10X. My personal gun has a SS 10x 42 on it but it's lacking a little. If I replaced it today, it'd be with the 4.5 - 14 X 50, Leupold illuminated TMR. Even if you don't shoot that far, you may want to see something that close at some point. It's nice if you're having to use just your primary glass to make downrange windcall.
The 4X Acog makes head shots for a 16" gun easy at 400 meters. |

This might be another post, but I might get a 4.5-14x50 IOR with the MP8 illuminated recticle for my AR10T... I thought of going for Luepold but after owning the illuminated 3.5-10x40 MK4, I decided i no longer want leupold illuminate, glass is nice but the batteries just dies too quick
, Night force is very nice and I might get again a NXS 5.5-22x50 with NP-R2 ( you can get two IORs for that price) but have'nt decided.
