Trying to pin down when Bushmaster started using thier own lowers rather then Sendra and Essential Arms. Far back as I can trace the use of thier own lowers is 1991, and serial number LO31XXX.

Aren't the "L" marked Bushy lowers from LAR?

Not sure who's making the BFI lowers, certainly there are those w/ better info that will let us know...

Not exactly what I meant. Bushmaster use to use Sendra and or EA lowers, and stamp BFI on them. Later Bushmaster used thier own receivers. Trying to figure out when that transition happened.

I have a friend who has a BFI stamped lower on a class 3 M-16, so I would say at least after 1986.

If its not a Sendra lower converted by Bushmaster or its an A2 then its a post sample.

Olympic Arms at one time made lowers for them also.

I had a preban Bushy lower, L0308XX. Bushmaster confirmed that it left their factory as a lower only in 1990.

Good stuff. Anyone got a lower serial number?

I wish I had a Sendra A1 lower....or two.

I bought a Bushmaster lower receiver and had it transferred to my local dealer somewhere around 1988 or 1989.

I cannot remember the logo. I just ordered it directly from Bushmaster and had it shipped to my dealer. Are you saying that back then they would ship semi-auto Sendra lowers? I'm familiar with them converting Sendra lowers into M16's, but wasn't aware of them using Sendra lowers for semi-auto builds.

I know for a fact that I had my lower before January 1989, but cannot remember how long I had it before that date.

Interesting. Awhile back it was debated on whether Bushmaster's 65 M4's supplied to the military were actual Bushmaster lowers. This shows that it's very possible that they were.

Also, I thought Bushmaster used LAR and not LMT? I guess it's very possible as I didn't even know LMT was making AR15 lowers that far back.

That's what I thought, too...

It has already been shown that the L marked lowers are LAR not LMT.

The first lower I bought from Bushmaster was an EA&CO. lower before they had their own made.
The 16 I bought from them was a conversion of a Sendra lower.

That is one reason I am asking, in that I am interested in military weapons, and am curious if it is even possible that those 65 carbines were built on Bushmaster lowers.

Another reason I am curios is that I am shopping for semiauto lowers made from A1 forgings. Eagle Arms lowers from 89/90 were made from A1 forgings. And I bought a PWA A1 lower for a good price. Have never seen a Bushmaster A1 lower.

If Bushmaster was making lowers in say 1989 then I figure they would be A1 forgings, and then somebody has got to have one with a serial number lower then LO30XXX.

Hmmm. When was the last time someone said they saw a Bushmaster lower in the service? It may be worth tracking down now that these rumors may have some truth to them.

With that said, I think it would be really interesting to see a Bushmaster A1 with the snake logo.

Am getting the idea that Bushaster lowers went into production in 1990 and started at LO30XXX.

There are earlier versions which were pictured above, but this will get you through the 90's to current for sure.
You would have to ask Mack Gwynn who he bought the first receivers from when he started bushmaster way back-in-the-day.
Mack's current company is MGI

One correction. "L" serial numbered BM lowers are made by LAR manufacturing. There is a BATF report floating around some place that confirmed that. I've never seen or heard of a "C" marked BM lower but that doesn't mean much. I don't doubt they exist but wouldn't mind seeing one?

mine is a L033series and bushmaster says it left as a lower from their factory also...

So does Bushmaster make their own Anniversary Model lowers? (XX & XXM series)

EDIT: Oops, You wanted to know who made them in the begining. Got caught up in the different makers and posted without thinking.

What did the EA&CO lower look like? The Only EA receivers I have seen are clearly cast and very much look like it. The numbers and wording is raised and not indented.
