This has probably been asked 93.5 million times - but I can't find the answer anywhere.

What is the difference in A2 and A3? Does the A2 simply have a fixed carry handle?

I am looking at the Bushmaster 16" M4 A3 .223 Carbine and the A2.  I can see absolutely no difference in those pictures (assuming those pics are even accurate).

I'm just looking to buy my first AR and am kind of lost about everything. I don't want to have to build one (yet!)..

In civilian terms the A2 is the fixed carry handle.  The A3 is a flat top upper.
In mil terms, the A2 is fixed handle burst.  The A3 is fixed handle auto.  A4 is flat top upper with burst.
The Bushy pics are dicked up.  Use the civ version listed above.

Not at all.  Everybody's a n00b at some point.  The difference is in recognizing it and working past it.
