Hello I have a Bushmaster AR15 with a A2?? upper (with handle) I want a flattop and I have seen several different kinds. Can someone explain differences between A2, A3 and A4? I'm not sure I understand the differences.  And will any brand upper fit any brand lower?

Thanks Brian

A2 - fixed carry handle like you have
A3/A4 - pretty much used interchangebly for describing a flat top AR receiver (e.g. Bushmaster calls their flat top an A3, while Rock River Arms calls their flat top an A4.  They are the same thing.)

And yes, any brand upper will fit on any brand lower minus some Colt's with different pin sizes.

So if A3/A4 are flat top AR's why does the bushmaster M4 A3 that I am looking at have a carrying handle? I was also trying to figure out why the A3 is more expensive than the A2 when they both look exactly the same and are described the same? Not trying to be a dick I just dont know much about this stuff,
Thanks

As echo said, it's a detachable carry handle.  The flat top is underneath it.
