Is there anything that seperates one brand from another other than price ??? Anything I need to know that you guy's feel is important ??? Bushy and RRA are my choices at the moment, I'm getting ready to build my first AR and a service rifle is what I've chosen for the project...

I would and have installed the RRA since it comes with the gas tube and hand guards, all you have to do is remove the front sight gas block and remove the sling swivel from the existing gas block and it is DCM legal. You are very welcome, Some tools I have that you may need are: The free float tube wench for the barrel nut and the carbine wrench to tighten up the free float tube jam nut. Also if you look at the one photo you will notice the free float tube away from the front sight, this is not the correct spacing and needs to be slightly touching the front sight gas block. You have to turn the free float tube until it index's against the front sight gas block and it may take a few tries to position it properly, install the pins each time to make sure they do not bind. |

I understand that your opinion is your view but it will not hurt anything to let the FFT slightly touch the front sight, I have tried it both the 1mm off and slightly touching and found that slightly touching has no impact on accuracy what so ever. If hanging a 25 pound dead weight off the front sling with no FFT with a weapon in a bull vise, then this would not be an issue. |
RRA makes a CMP (under handguards) type tube for midlengths? |

You DO NOT wan't the FF tube to touch the FSB or the gas tube to touch the FF tube. The FSB needs to be spaced forward of the shoulder on barrel the thickness of a normal handguard ferrule approx .035 if you are using a set screw or clamp type FSB. Front edge of FF tube needs to be even or < with barrel handguard ferrule shoulder. The RRA DCM tube is excellent, The RRA and Armalite FF tubes are basically identical. The Bushmaster DCM tube is a flimsy POS that is also a pain to install compared to a RRA and other similiar DCM tubes.... |
Thanks for the heads up on the Bushy, as it stands now the build looks to be all RRA...
