Leave it in the safe next time.

Try a gun bluing pen.  Works great on (non-stainless) steel.  They are sold at most gun stores.

Cold Blue kinda works but doesnt really match the parkerizing, get it sandblasted and reparkerized.

On the outside?

Put some cold blue and clp on it to prevent rust, and it's done.

Think of it as a parking lot door ding on your car.

Do you repaint your car every time you get a new door ding?

I actually once watched him fix his car with an entire industrial sized tube of Silicone caulk.

Spray paint.
It's an AR15, not an M1.
Beat the shit out of it.

Can someone get RustedAce to post a pic of his A4 from Iraq?

I'd recomend flat black over high gloss.

Duct tape is great stuff.  I once used a roll of it to secure the front bumper back on my car after an accident during a long road trip.  It'll cover your ding.

Just shoot VERY SLOWLY.  If the barrel gets hot it'll melt the glue on the tape.  The smell might make people think you're shooting Wolf ammo.

This stuff will cure your problem

ETA:

You said white scratch...could it be a mark left from something falling against it? (try Hoppes, to remove the mark, before anything else)

I've had a couple white scratches on mine--they came off with CLP. It think it might be concrete dust from the shooting pad.

Put a bigger scratch on the other side...you won't even notice the little white one then

Tie it to your bumper, and drag it up and down a gravel driveway a few times.  You'll forget the scratch is even there.

Seriously though.  Just shoot it?  Unless you bought it for "collector value".

Be happy  the retired DI from a recent post did not get a hold of it-here we go with the "it's a tool" routine.

You know, most gun owners are so worried about silly cosmetic issues.

Below is a perfect example. A little rubbing and CLP and this M1A will be good as new:

Come in to Gun Gallery and ask for Neil. Bring your rifle in with you. I will cover it up for free. I'll give you a free band aid too if you dont like the way it comes out!
