Whe ever did the M16 animation even put in bolt bounce, but why did the charging handle bolt bounce also? Not quite perfect but good.

Wow, yeah, thats pretty cool. But I have a few questions now. Wheres the disconnector? And more directly, what exactly does the disconnector do? After studying that animation, and then examining the inside of my lower as I pulled the trigger I can't seem to figure out it's purpose. It doesn't appear to move in any way when I pull the trigger and then reset the hammer.

The disconnector retains the hammer if you hold the trigger in the pulled postion during the cycling action after the round is fired. The carrier on its rearward travel will push the hammer low enough to be caught by the disconnector. The disconnector releases the hammer after you release the trigger so that the trigger can reset and retain the hammer untill the next pull of the trigger. The animation does not show the disconnectors function because it is not used in the full auto mode of firing. The disconnector is held out of play by the selector switch during full auto firing.
