I have a factory upper (regular handguards). The barrel is 14.5" and its the regular top with iron sights. I want to put some kind of decent handguard on there that I can mount an EO Tech sight to instead of those iron sights. I don't want to do much other than take off the old handguards. Is this possible? If so what handguards are out there that do this. If worse comes to worse, I guess I can get one of those thingys that bolt onto the carry handle or screws into the current handguard. I was hoping there was a rail out there so I could avoid this. The YHM 2 piece rail system is tight, but the Midwest Industries 2 piece rail system is really tight. It costs about $15-20 more but would probably be better suited for an EOtech. I like the look of the MI ones over the YHM anyway. |
I wouldn't mount a sight on any NON- FreeFloated system. I have the YHMs, yes they are tighter than the plastic ones - I still wouldn't mount optics to them. If you want to mount an optic on the Rail, then look to one of the FF systems that only requires you to dremel off the delta ring for installation: Troy MRF-C Sampson MFRS-C Midwest Industries (their free float version, not the 2 peice handguard replacement). |
