Is there a reason to use a freefloat rail on a 10.5 inch barrel??

Why not use a rail that contacts the delta ring and hanguard cap like a Surefire or RAS?

Is there any gain with the freefloat rail?

The rifle is used for up close to a max of 100 yards.

What do you think?

There are two main reasons in my mind. First, the FF barrel dissipates heat better (sucking it right off the barrel nut and moving it down the rail). Second, I hang a lot of gear off my rails and do not like to put pressure on the barrel.

You cant sleeve a suppressor under the handguard if you run a non FF tube which requires a FSB, lasers on the forearm are less securely mounted, etc.
