I apologize for the picture being so large...

It's a Colt LE6920.  I already had the optic and BUIS before I got it.  I was in such a rush to put them on that I didn't get any pictures with the carry handle still on. Oh well.

I haven't shot it yet, but overall I'm pleased I went with the Colt.  I like the trigger pull- seems lighter than the FN M-16 I deployed with.  I love the M4 handguards, and don't plan on putting any rails on it.

I can't wait to shoot it! Especially to get a feel of shooting with an aimpoint.

Congrats - you done good.

Looks exactly like my LE6920 setup except I still have an issue QRP w/spacer.  I am like you, I like the standard Colt handguards and will leave mine that way.

BTW the LE6920s have the double heat shield just like M4 and work very well.
I put 1200 rounds through mine the first time I shot her, fairly quickly at that, but the handguards never heated up much.

Be sure and give us a range report!

ETA Did you get standard BC or M16 carrier? I got the M16 BC and 2 20 rnd mags.
Some got a standard carrier and 30 rnd mags or some combo thereof.

She's a beauty. I love the feel of the LE6920's, they feel really solid. Can't wait, 2 more months and I'll have a 6920 too.

Right now I've got an A2 SporterII with a 6920 upper, and a Bushy M4 Patrolmans Carbine on the way.

It has the M16 bolt carrier, and came with 2 20 rd magazines.  Thanks for all the positive comments. I'll be sure to follow up with a range report.

Cool. I have almost the same set-up. The only thing missing from mine is the ARMS BUIS that yours has. Is that the 40 or the 40L?

I hope you enjoy the rifle as much as I do mine.

Stupid question, but what is the diff between a "standard BC" carrier & the M-16 carrier?  Does one come on newer guns & one on the older?  More desirable?

It's the #40.  I think it looks great and is built solid.

This has been debated ad nauseum, but basically it is accepted now that the M16 BC cannot make a rifle fire full auto by itself and therefore is completely legal for  civilians to own in title I firearms. Colt is now shipping their new LE carbines with the M16 BC (we should probably be referring to it as the "standard" BC now)but there were a few in the transition period that still shipped with the old "C" carrier, so we always ask as a matter of interest.

Some ship with 2x20 round mags and some with 2X30 round mags. It's kind of like the cracker jack prize thing going on, you don't know what you will get!

As far as advantages, the FA BC has more weight to it which can enhance reliability (especially when paired with an H-buffer like the Colt LE carbines ship with) and also slightly less felt recoil. It also has a shrouded firing pin which helps reliability. Some will argue these points, but I think you will find most individuals with many years of experience with M16s and AR15s will agree on these points.

And it's the way the AR15 BC was designed to be before all the politically correct BS.

Congrats!!!

Just wondering. Did you get advise from fellow Arfcommers or did you make this decision on your own?

Reason I ask is because I bought my first AR before I even knew this site existed. Wish I had known otherwise I wouldn't have bought that Olympic. Guess the good thing is that I made all my mistakes with that rifle and now have some excellent Bushmasters and an Eagle Arms.

I'll have a Colt someday!

This site helped me immensely with my decision.  I read hundreds of different opinions on brand preference.  I considered all the differing features of the top 4 (ABCR) manufacturers. To me, Colt stood out as the clear winner, and was worth the extra $$.  I'm not saying it's the right choice for everyone, just my personal decision.

As to the other components:
I chose the ARMS mount and BUIS over other brands because I think they look good HopefullyRead tons of positive feedback on the Aimpoint, and like the look of it better than the eotech sights

M855 is on the way and can't wait to break 'er in!

Sweep, an Oly was my first rifle too, and mine is still going strong (well been through one barrel, now it has an FNMI M16A2 barrel) and I also have a Bushy and had an Eagle Arms(sold it to a NY ARfcommer since it was preban). Now my Colt is my new favorite of course.

But I dont think Oly is that  bad as a first rifle. Of Course an LE6920 is better!

Here is an shrouded firing pin bolt carrier on the bottom of the image (appears to be to an M16 carrier) shown next to 2 unshrouded bolt carriers. (photo credit www.quarterbore.com)

Note that the fact of having a shrouded firing pin carrier does not necessarily make it an M16 bolt carrier. There are many variations.
