| Can any one recomend a good copy of an Aimpoint or other military type scope . I would like to get one for one of my rifles (M4gery) and I dont want to waste money on a cheap airsoft one that will not stand up to being on a real rifle. I'm not expecting to get a scope thats as good as an Aimoint for under 100.00 but I dont want a piece of crap either, Just looking for something that looks like it would be on a military rifle? I'd appreciate and sudgestions you might have, Thanks Brian |
| Hey YELLOWV thanks for the links . Oh and by the way this is for my 13 year old daughter , she wants her rifle to look like her mothers who is serving in Kuwait and Iraq. Her mom uses a A2 style M16 and I'm not sure what kind of optic she put on it after arriving in country. But she did say one her buddies in her unit put a scope on her rifle didnt get the details on what it was. My daughter uses my M4gery since its lighter . Thanks again. |

I bought one for my HK MP5 clone amd my M1Carbine. The sights are worth the $88.00 for sure. Some conparisons between the Tacpoint and Aimpoints on my AR15's: 1. The Tacpoint's body is longer than the Aimpoint M2/ML2 series. 2. The plastic lense covers aren't as good on the Tacpoint's as they seem to be made with a cheap plastic. 3. The Tacpoints come equipt to run 2 batteries right out of the box. In order to do this with the Aimpoints you need to by an adapter...and another battery of course. :) 4. The brightness adjustment knob on the Aimpoint has 9 definate clicks starting from clockwise rotation. The knob will not turn further than that. On the Tacpoint there are 6 adjustments, but go from darkest to brightest in a counter-clockwise rotation. The Tacpoint is easier to turn, but has no stop in the rotation like the Aimpoint has. It will continue to rotate , but has a white dot marking to show you where "off" is. 5. The dot on the tacpoint is clearer than the Aimpoints. That's the truth. But battery life is no comparison, the Aimpoint wins hands down 50X over. 6. The clamp that comes with the Tacpoint isn't a quality item, but it's good enough to work. I am pleased to report to you all that I have eaten dirt while carrying this sight, and, the sight's body as well as adjustment held up great! One "test" was a stumble where the gun landed on it's side and the 2nd was a "Lean against the Car" BooBoo where the gun landed on the optic first. Both guns shot straight after the mishaps with no adjustment. While battery life is no where close to the Aimpoints, the Tacpoints are better at using energy than most of the older Red Dot sights. I accidentally left one on for at least a week and it was still going when I discovered it. Hope this helped. |
thats what i would say too...... |

Y'know, you should be posting this in the Optics, Mounts and Sights forum. That's what it's there for. |
+1 besides: I'd rather get a used comp M on EE for, say, 200, than a tacpoint. Tacpoints are probably the best aimpoint copy available, but still they die and leak frequently. |

Thank you to every one who had positive and helpful replys , Oh and I'm sorry if I posted it in the wrong forum . And to the rest who had nothing useful or helpful to say, Have a wonderful day. PS 69hpbt you nailed it. But apparently their not just on that forum , And I can vouch for the fact that niether Shannon or myself will be swimming with the rifle , we will not be using it it the rain, we will not be going into combat where are lives will depend on the scope , And we could care less if any one out there would want to call us posers. I mean after all isn't a M4gery posing any ways? We just have fun togeather along with my other kids at the range or in the mountains spending time togeather as a family |
