i was wondering if anybody has knowledge of the Gemtech m402. its a threaded can that replaces your flash hider. I am thinking about get it for my RRA ar15. was wondering if anybody has used these cans or know people that do. Is it worth the 500 or should i go to some other manufacturer of suppressors? i am looking for good quality as well as price.
THANKS

I'd say that any of the top suppressor manufacturers offer very good 5.56 suppressors that are pretty close in specifications. I'd venture to guess that you'd be pleased with it.

That said, I personally went with an SRT Hurricane for a little less than $500, and it even edged out the Gem-Tech M4-02 by 3 dB in independent testing by Al Paulson.

Hurricane is good....

I stuck the M4-02 on my SBR (11.5") because I wanted an OAL equal to a 16" carbine with a flash hider.  I'm happy with it for what it does.  It will save my hearing if I ever have to use it indoors.  It's not "comfortable" to shoot outdoors (although my ears are extremely sensitive), but that's not why I got it.  If quiet is the most important factor, I would try a bigger can.

Any thoughts on the SRT Typhoon?  It doesn't reduce as well as the Hurricane, but supposedly still gets you under the level for hearing damage.  (139 SPL on an 11.5" barrel.)  And it only adds 4.1 inches to the barrel length.

I'm happy with mine. It's a well built can, but I'm also considering one of the models that mount over the flash suppressor. It can be a pain getting an Otis cable though the baffles when it's barrel cleaning time. The suppressor also makes the rifle front heavy and you may not want it on there all the time. Oh, and if you do get one be careful , that sucker gets hot !

Gemtech HALO!  Then you don't have to remove the FH, just make sure you have an A2 with a peel washer.  That's what I bought....

Many people have been disappointed when finally shooting their 556 can, regardless of manu or make.

It is not going to be pffft quiet.

Quieter ? Yes.  But it aint the movies.

If you want quiet, do an ar 300 whisper subsonic with a Gem can bilock. Very barrel heavy on a 16" bull barrel. If you want super quiet shoot it in gas off mode(single shot). You can hear it hitting and the action of the rifle tighten up.
