This may sound like a stupid question, but when a barrel is chrome lined in the chamber and bore, do the feed ramps get chromed also? I have two barrels both saying chrome bore and chamber but one has black feed ramps and one has shiny silver ramps. Are the shiny ones chromed? Thanks for any info.

It would depend on whether or not the manufacturer used a Chromed barrel extension or not...

What AFSOC is saying is that the feed ramps are part of the barrel extension, not the barrel.

thanks for the info. What it is is that i got one of the Gif barrels and it had looked from the pics that the feedramps were also chromed, but the one i got did not look that way. I also have a Rock River barrel and some bushmasters and they look as though the feedramps were chromed. I guess it does not make a big difference whether or not the ramps are chromed or not, I was just curious as to the whether they usually chromed the barrel extensions along with the barrels. Thanks again.h.gif

The metal ramps will look shiney if the rifle is well used (they get polished by feeding those 1000s of rounds).  Don't confuse polished metal with chrome plating.  Easiest way to test is to use a Cold Blue Pen.  If it takes, then the metal is not chromed.

Be nice to have the inside of the extension and lugs chromed..then using a chromed bolt would be perfect.I use lesbaer chromed extractors and ejectors and with just those upgrades it keeps running even when really fouled.I cant get it to quit and of course cleans up easy.
