Hey, gang, I have heard so much about muzzle devices, but I am struggling to find the perfect one and I don't want to spend $250 to figure that out.

I have a Bushy carbon 15 pistol with an A2 flashider and the factory muzzle brake.

I know your standard muzzle brake can amplify noise/muzzle blast.

I would like compensated fire without causing shockwaves from the muzzle blast and 2 foot flames.

I saw a new combo muzzle brake/flash hider. I think DPMS made it, I gotta check.

Also, people rave about the Phantom and vortex FH's, but I wonder about the noise and compensation effect if any.

Kurts Kustom Limiter springs to mind, but I haven't heard much about it

the Levang linear comp is another one that I have heard limited feedback about.

Any comments would be appreciated.

Recoil from an AR is really a nonconcern, atleast for me.  Just look for something that gives the best flas suppression.

How did you get both on one barrel?

I like my stock Colt muzzle brake very much (kinda loud though).

The A2 flashhider does nothing practical for me. If I wanna hide flash, I've got better solutions.

I don't have them on at the same time. I have the regular factory brake and an adaptor for aftermarket parts.

There is a thread on here somewhere with photos of the different flash suppressors being shot at dusk. Flash suppresors will not increase the muzzle blast they help to reduce it. I use a Phantom 5C on my own rifle and like it a lot. Vortex and Phantoms are the most popular, I've installed a lot of both since the ban was lifted. Kurtz Kustoms makes an extended version of the A2 that is susposed to work well also.

What about muzzle rise with the flash supressor as well as the noise compared to your standard A2. I am giving the phantom a hard look. They have a new one that supposedly has muzzle braking properties.

It's closed bottom (the new phantom and the A2 both are actually) so that does help with muzzle rise a little, but it's really not needed with an AR.
Vortex suppresses best, with phantom a close second BTW.

Well interestingly enough, the Ops. Inc. two port brake seems to be not so bad in the flash suppression department, considering it's a brake.

I've also seen the linear brake in Brownells, it's ported directly to the front, not to the sides, but I don't know how bad the flame is though that would also be directed forward and not upwards.
