Hello all. I've heard that over the last year or two DPMS has been making all forged products. Is there any way of knowing whether my uppers and lowers are forged (No, I'm not going to drop them to see if they break)

Thanks

What is the very first character of the SN?  My forged lower has an F in front of the SN that looks like it was stamped at the same time as the rest of the DPMS logo and stuff and the rest of the SN is a slightly different font and depth.

Its the number 3 at the beginning of on and F on the other. I've been emailing a rep from DPMS and they said that they have done away with cast and just making forged products. The guy I talked with was Adam. Adam said there still are few cast ones, but they will soon be circulated out.

Here is a sure fire way to tell..See the"c" shaped milling running vertically on the inside of the front  of the magwell.. If you have that..Its most likely forged..

If most of the markings (other than the serial number) are "outies", it cast.  If most of the markings are "innies", it forged.

Duh!

If -any- of the markings are 'outties' then it is almost sure to be cast.
