I've got a 14.5 LMT upper with a perm attached Phantom flash hider. Im going to add an AAC suppressor which has its own flash hider. Is there someone reasonable who can change out the flash hider on this rifle. Any guys out there with the AAC suppressor? Im wondering on the length of it if it is perm attached to my 14.5 barrel. Im used to the 14.5 from the military and would like to stay with that length if possible.

That will not make 16" from what ive read. Someone on the M16/auto section said they got 16" but AAC says it wont make it. better check things out b4 having anywork done.

The AAC "flash compensator", as they like to call it, has a skirt that wraps around the barrel, so while it may look pretty long, sitting on a table by itself, it's effective length, when adding to a barrel for total barrel length, is quite a bit less than one might think.

I have one at home and can provide pics if needed, but I'm cruising ARFCOM at work for $XX dollars an hour, so..............................

I appreciate the help. I thought I might have to go to a 16 inch barrel to make it work.

Yea, I'm in the same sitaution with a 14.5" Colt, only I would like a regular A2 birdcage to go with a Halo.  I was told just to buy a new barrel or upper buy the class3 dealer, but with $200 tax plus $$$ for the can then throw a new barrel all of a sudden this is getting real expensive (more than the gun).
