Recently bought a Colt upper. When I received it there were Surefire carbine handguards on the upper. These were the kind that resemble m4 HG's but have a flashlight built in. It's a big light and takes 6 123 batteries, I believe it's a 500b but could be wrong. Appears almost new. Looking to sell it and was wondering what a fair used price would be. Thanks in advance. |

Wow, thats a pretty nice addition. If it takes 6 batteries, it is the M500B. It is an expensive unit. Retail is $650, but you can get them new for much less than that. Here's the hard part, while it is a VERY nice pieve of gear, and it is VERY expensive, they are not in demand very much. If he doesnt have much in the M500B, I would try to move it for around $425 or less. It will be priced to sell and someone not even looking for one may pick it up just because it is a good deal. You can easily set it at a higher price and no one will say you are trying to rip them off, but you may have a harder time selling it. |
You probably bought the M500A, which sells for $515. The M500B is twice as bright, takes twice the batteries, and sells for $650. It is currently the brightest weapons light Surefire makes. $300 is a good deal on it. If you want, buy it for $300 and get the M500A head for it. This system allows you to maintain the same unit but just switch lamps and reflectors to have all three systems. Then you will have both an M500A, M500AB and a M500B all for about $50 more. |
| You are absolutely correct, the M500A with the small head goes for $515.....I stand corrected. Normal output is 125 lumens or 225 with the high output bulb also supplied. I figure that is plenty of light for most peoples purposes. I really like the integrated design and the two low output LED for nighttime navigation without lighting the entire place up. |
