I just purchased these (see photos below) off of the "Equipment Exchange" site.

I received them the other day and was surprised to see that they are not, in my opinion, BUSHMASTER parts.

The Carry Handle looks good but the forging seams are prominent and I always liked Bushmaster's because they mill of the seam/flash before finishing.  Also the markings (AA) are not consistent with Bushmaster and are on the wrong side of the CH.

I found one at Sportsman's Guide for $44.95 that was a dead ringer for this one.  I paid $70.00.

The Handguards are very roughly finished/stippled, Bushmasters are typically much smoother.  Also, the fit is loose and rolls left to right and the edges are sharp with lots of flashing.

The seller swears that they came off of a 5 year old Bushy Flattop A-3.  I seriously doubt it, but in fairness to him I want another opinion or two.

Thanks,

TG

The carry handle is an Anchor Harvey unit, used by Bushmaster, Colt DPMS and most others. The MIC part in the SG catalog has no seam.
I don't know about the HG's.

As far as I know the Sportsmans Guide pieces are Chinese, though that's by report and not personal inspection.  Your piece is definitally US made,

My own Bushie top piece was also off an Anchor Harvey forging, but it has a 1 along side the forge mark. I've also seen them with 11 and nothing aside the forge mark.

I'm wondering where you got the idea that Bushie elimintes 100% of the forge line off the inside surface.  I've never seen any top piece that had the inner forge line totally cut off, whether on Colt early SP1 and A1 solid tops, or anyone elses brand of AR, whether solid or  removable style. My own Bushie sight unit has exactly the same line, as do my Colt and DPMS solid top uppers.

The handguards.  Can't say for sure, but the Bushie carbine HGs I bought a few years back were chintzy crap. That was the early full round style, not the current M4 types which I've never seen up close. And that's one reason I buy only Colt stock parts, though the Bushie A2 type buttstocks I've seen recently look equal to the Colt's. I still don't trust anyone elses forends though.

Play in the HGs? Half the HGs in the AR (and M16) world have play in them, and half of the other half have been tightened up be their owners

I'd add that the carry handle is either Bushy or Colt, and AFAIK, there really isn't a way to tell one set of handguards from another, except maybe for the Colt M4 double heat shield handguards, but who knows, maybe there is a way.

Thanks for the info.

I guess this guy was right, Bushmaster is not as consisitant with there parts as we would like.  Maybe they ran low and bought something different to maintain production?

Here is where I got the idea that Bushmster milled out the seams/flash.

I have two like this from Bushmaster:

Thanks again for the info.

I'd just add about the handguards that even if "they came off a Bushmaster" that doesn't mean that they were original.  They could have been replaced a while back...  I agree that the handguards don't look up to the quality we associate with Bushmaster.
