This was posted, from of all places, HK Pro board by someone else: "A few weeks ago while at an Army range, I got my hands on an XM8. We were allowed to fire one mag through it each. It did function OK, but while on the range this particular weapon jammed three times. The HK rep cleared the jam immediately each time, but I am still wondering how it would do in the dirt and sand of combat. While shooting the weapon, the HK rep would load the mag, chamber the round and then put it on safe and handed it to us. Then we were to put it on fire and fire some rounds. Don't know why they made us do it that way. Kind of odd if you ask me. The weight of the weapon was good and the feel was alright as well. The optics were a bit awkward at first, but I guess you would get used to it. I also heard earlier this week that the HK deal with the Army is "all but dead" but could not get any reasons as to why. Just a quick range report for my 30 rounds of XM8." |
