You definitely need a Red Dot...Aimpoint or EO Tech! I prefer the Aimpoint! Maybe a railed for end, to hang a light off of!

Here is a picture of my old AR15A3 from a few years back, it handled well in this configuration.  I would also throw out the idea of getting some decent gear like a LBE/LBV if you don't have one.

What are you doing with your AR? I don't think it would be very responsible of me to recommend add-ons for your AR unless I knew what you were doing with it. Sometimes simple is best.

Is your current arrangement not fulfilling your needs in some way? Don't get caught up in the accessory hype. For example, I've been tempted to buy a laser for my short range (9mm) AR but when I think about, I don't need one (I've got an Aimpoint on it now) so why waste the money and add the weight. I've also had similar thoughts about the Beta C-Mag. While it might be a fun toy, it's pretty impractical (for me at least) and they are no where near as reliable as 20 or 30 round USGI mags.

I assume you are talking abut upgrading the one in the first pic? If so, I don't think it needs any upgrades but if you really want some, get an Eotech (or aimpoint if you must ), a BUIS, a Vltor stock and a sling.

Mags, ammo and spare parts (or spare AR's ) are things you can never have too much of!

Well believe me, there are things on my ARs that I don't need but I have> I've just been trying to purchase a bit more wisely. Heck, I'm even starting to wonder if I really like using vertical foregrips on all of my ARs. This site is a great place where you can get a lot of good information from knowledgable people. It is also a siren singing its song - "You want the latest and greatest gear, don't you?". I'm not against buying something just because it's fun and you like it. I just hate to see folks spend their hard earned money on things they regret buying later. That's all. I've been there and done that.
