"With the expiration of the Assault Weapons Ban, these people(terrorists) could now upgrade from a hand gun or rifle, to an AK-47." Ummm....Am i the only person that thinks they already have a AK? Thats kinda why I have my collection. If all the bad guys had Kali legal frickin hi points, all i would need is a good .357.... But I'd still use my blinged out M4 on them |
We all know they are idiots, but just to be sure everybody understands... - full auto AKs have been illegal to import since '86. - AKs that are not neutered have been illegal to import since '89. - neutered AKs were legal during the 10 years the AWB was in place. |
| 5 new republican seats since the election. Odds of a new AWB are slim, but that doesnt mean we dont fight as hard as possible to send a message. Nothing like armed resistance to prove a point, but for now letters, the NRA and providing truthful information should be enough |

How do they classify the Hi Point carbine as an assault weapon? Is it because it is black? It is a handgun with a 16 inch barrel and stock for goodness sake. It has no muzzle attachment or collapsable stock if my mind serves me right so WTF? Would it be alright if it was painted pink? They want to ban it because of one shooting that happened in NC with it so by that process of elimination it would only take a few years to ban every gun on the planet. Why don't they just add this: 1. Any firearm that has the ability to do one of the following: A. Fire a projectile. B. Be classified by the BTAF as a firearm. C. Protect a citizen or his family. D. Not be controled or owned by a goverment official, LEO, member of a gun control organization, or force of supreme tyranny. |
agreed, let's do what we can or do nothing |
| The socialist libs never surprise me. They are opposed to any Homeland Security as long as they are not in charge and/or can not use the law to suppress politically incorrect enemies. Now they have an interest in stopping terrorist from buying guns? As if these people can't get them already. Our borders are wide open. We can't stop the aliens, so how do we stop arms from being smuggled? |
The Columbine school killings come to mind... |
|
How about this little gem? "It shall be unlawful for any person to transfer any assault weapon with a large capacity ammunition feeding device." It's no time to be complacent. Don't fool yourself into thinking that a conservative majority ensures us anything. I've seen, recently, that conservatives are just as able as liberals to ignore the law and want to act based on their emotions alone. It's frightening! |
You mean, if the teachers had been armed, it would've ended sooner? |
so it would be ok to transfer a AW but just dont include a Large Cap mag? |
-Full-Auto AK's have been illegal to import since 1968 -Conversions made after 1986 can not be possessed by civilians. |

THIS IS MUCH WORSE IN SEVERAL WAYS 1. Now added to the list of banned featured on a RIFLE are `(iv) a forward grip; or and `(v) a barrel shroud., that means VFG and handguards. Say goodbye to rail forearms as we know them if this happens `(D) A semiautomatic rifle that has an ability to accept a detachable magazine, and that has-- `(i) a folding or telescoping stock; `(ii) a threaded barrel; `(iii) a pistol grip; `(iv) a forward grip; or `(v) a barrel shroud `(36) Barrel Shroud- The term `barrel shroud' means a shroud that is attached to, or partially or completely encircles, the barrel of a firearm so that the shroud protects the user of the firearm from heat generated by the barrel, but does not include a slide that encloses the barrel, and does not include an extension of the stock along the bottom of the barrel which does not encircle or substantially encircle the barrel. `(41) Forward Grip- The term `forward grip' means a grip located forward of the trigger that functions as a pistol grip. 2. Would ONLY be able to transfer through a dealer - no more FTF sales. `(5) It shall be unlawful for any person to transfer a semiautomatic assault weapon to which paragraph (1) does not apply, except through-- `(A) a licensed dealer, and for purposes of subsection (t) in the case of such a transfer, the weapon shall be considered to be transferred from the business inventory of the licensed dealer and the dealer shall be considered to be the transferor; or `(B) a State or local law enforcement agency if the transfer is made in accordance with the procedures provided for in subsection (t) of this section and section 923(g). 3. Handguns could no longer have threaded barrels `(F) A semiautomatic pistol that has the ability to accept a detachable magazine, and has-- `(i) a second pistol grip; `(ii) a threaded barrel; `(iii) a barrel shroud; or `(iv) the capacity to accept a detachable magazine at a location outside of the pistol grip. 4. SA shotguns couldn''t have pistol grip, can't have more than 5 round capacity, even FIXED `(H) A semiautomatic shotgun that has-- `(i) a folding or telescoping stock; `(ii) a pistol grip; `(iii) the ability to accept a detachable magazine; or `(iv) a fixed magazine capacity of more than 5 rounds. 5. Any semiautomatic long arm PROCURED by the military or Gov't would be an "assault weapon" . Note that the last sentence is aimed squarely at the AR15 for CMP/ODCMP and competition use. They are covering all bases here. Note their statement (in red) contradicts itself ![]() ![]() `(L) A semiautomatic rifle or shotgun originally designed for military or law enforcement use, or a firearm based on the design of such a firearm, that is not particularly suitable for sporting purposes, as determined by the Attorney General. In making the determination, there shall be a rebuttable presumption that a firearm procured for use by the United States military or any Federal law enforcement agency is not particularly suitable for sporting purposes, and a firearm shall not be determined to be particularly suitable for sporting purposes solely because the firearm is suitable for use in a sporting event.' ________________________________________________________________________ Do I think this will pass in it's current iteration? No. Do I think some modified or watered down form of this will pass? Very possibly. We all need to flood our legislator's mailboxes with brief and concise messages that make our position clear on this pile of bull dung. |

How are they going to keep track of who had a pistol grip before the new ban? Will they have to start marking EVERYTHING?? They sure as hell can't use the ol' "For Military or Law..." because those items marked as such are now legal. I think they should just anodize all new "assault weapons" in a pinkish or orange color. www.awbansunset.com www.awbansunset.com |
I know... This whole new AWB crap has got me pissed off. Dry humor is one of the ways I cope. |
Did you know that in the U.K. They are now requiring registration of Airsoft and pellet rifles/pistols? As well as deactivated firearms. They are in the final stages of neurotic self-destruction. This is where we are headed if this nonsense continues. RE: the joke, Missed the humor completely |
That's the worst part right there. 1911 carbine conversions would be illegal. T/C's would be illegal. Hell, anything that doesn't have a 1950's stock would be illegal. |
| The only good outcome I can see out of this is that when it passes and all we are allowed to have are wood stocked 5 shot pump shotguns and revolvers is that everyone just ignores it. When I say everyone I mean us, manufactorers, dealers, and the ATF. No one enforces it, obeys it, or gives a damn about it. Can you imagine the stroke those bastard senators would have? What would they do? Organize a special task force made up of antigun senators to stop us? |
|
BTT Can we get this pinned at the top of the thread? Gun owners need to not get caught sleeping on this one like we did the last time!his Hopefully, if everyone will create enough fuss, they will let it die once and for all! |
|
Also note, that this bill uses the horrible "anything that can function as a grip" definition of "pistol grip". This can be easily interpreted to mean that if you can fire the weapon with your firing-hand thumb wrapped around behind any part of the weapon -- which means virtually every kind of stock except one with a straight English-type comb -- then the weapon has a "pistol grip". The provisions of this bill are friggin' ridiculous, and not only will I not obey them if it passes, I'll stop obeying any other laws I feel like as well. I mean, c'mon, what kind of respect does the government deserve if they pass bullshit like this? |
