Hope this is the correct forum.

I recently finished a AR Pistol with a 10.5 barrel and carbine buffer system.  It is running with a Bushmaster bolt and carrier from my 20 inch XM15.  The bolt and carrier and XM15 have never missed a beat in many many rounds.

With my pistol, I had one failure to extract today, with Winchester value pack 55 fmj's.  I have been playing with buffers, and the gun will run great with a 9MM buffer and M193.  It short strokes with the 9mm buffer and the Winchester ammo.  I put the standard weight Car buffer in today, and got the one failure to extract.  I know that I could go with a Defender kit and probably cure the failure, but I am wondering if something else is going on.  The rim was not pulled through, the extracter looks to have just slipped off.  Is this a sign that the pressure's might still be a bit high at the point the bolt tries to unlock?  I am thinking that I would like to address this issue with buffer adjustment, to make sure there are no pressure issues involved.  Does this make sense, or should I just increase the extracter tension?

Thanks,

Craig
