Does anyone know where I can purchase the polymer buffer end protector that keeps the bolt carrier from making metal to metal contact with the front of the buffer.  [email protected]

You will risk decreasing reliability for something that really does very little wear with a good BC and buffer. I would not jack with it.

But you might try buffer technologies they have it here for $10.

No way would I stick that thing in any of my weapons.

Leave it be and by a spare buffer,I wish I could post pics so I could show you the worn circle around my buffer but we are talking at the 10,000 round mark,it wears the finish but dosent destroy the buffer, mine is still working fine.

I think he's talking about a little polymer disk that goes on the flat metal end of the buffer.  It's a little disk that sticks on the end. It's for people who don't want their bolt carrier to be hitting metel to metal with the buffer.

Brownells has them for $6.50

things like this are exactly what come loose or disintegrate and jam up the action just when you need you weapon the most.

After thousands of rounds through my Bushmaster and several hundred through my Colt I see no noticable wear on the rear of my bolt carrier. The Bushmaster has faint ring marks where the carrier and buffer hit (on the buffer), but nothing to be concerned about.

Why is it no one seems to realize that if "part x" truly increased reliability and decreased part wear, then it probably would have been incorperated into the M16?

If your rifle runs, don't f@ck with it.

Of course if your rifle is a toy (like my cars) then disregard the above and tinker all you like.
