[S_B] 3,000 is a lot [/S_B]

To add to gotm4's post, there are also reinforcements at the front pivot pin lugs, the rear sight apertures are differently sized, and forward assist changed from teardrop to round.

Don't forget that the front pivot pin area was reinforced as well.

Heavier barrel on A2 from front sight base to flash hider.  This reduced the barrel bending from the troops using them as prybars to break the bands on pallets of C-rats.

The bottom slots closed off on the flash hider to form a "Compensator/Flash Hider".  This necessitated use of the peel washer, and later crush washer to time the compensator.

Front sight post round with 5 notches (for 1 moa increments) went to square front sight post with 4 notches (appx 1.25 moa).  The square gave a sharper image.

The triangular handguard cap was retained, and the front of the round handguard was made to fit it, so that they would retrofit older rifles.  (This was a big improvment, in my opinion.)

Delta Ring went from cylindrical to conical.  Easier to remove handguards.

Speed bump added behind the ejection port (properly called "brass deflector").  This is a help to lefties.

A2 rear sight, which not only was adj for elevation, but had a larger hole aperture for 0-200 m.

(Aside--A good upgrade to an A1 upper is to replace the front sight post and rear sight blade with A2 parts.  The new rear sight blade and front post were big improvements, but I am still doubtful with the overly complicated elevation gadget.  I never felt I needed that.  I only owned one A2 upper.  I purchased all of my newr upper rx's in flattop config, and converted all of my A1's to A3's.  My A1's did have A2 post and rear blade sights.)

Buttstock was lengthened 5/8".  Rather than change all the buffer tubes, springs, and buffers, a spacer was used at the end of the stock.  This also required a longer top screw on the buttplate.  A better plastic was used, but I prefer the shorter stock, and so do many others.

Grip changed, with a finger notch added.  (I think this is an improvement.)

Internally, the 3 round burst mechanism required a new hammer, disconnector (2), trigger, and burst cam to be added.

Somewhere in there were round vs teardrop forward assist.

Guys, did I leave anything out?
