| I've been noticing a lot of RRA bashing going on it seems like. I just got my first ar from RRA, their tactical entry model. I think it is a beauty and have had 0 trouble out of it. I've already added probably 500 in accesories. I ordered mine Nov of 04 and got it exactly 10 weeks later, since the wait went from 4-6 weeks to 8-10 weeks a few days after i ordered. I havent missed a weekend at the range yet. I'm by no means an AR expert since this is my first one but so far for me RRA has been an accurate work of art and a great purchase. Maybe the QC issues have come up after mine was put together. |

You know its like everything else around here sometimes, one little problem and its war against something. As many as I have owned and still do I have yet to have one problem w/RRA products. Also because its not a Colt or Colt derivative it automatically gets grief. Also I have yet had a problem with my Glocks. BTW: even though you have your first AR, you are probably more of an expert than others JUST BECAUSE YOU BOUGHT AN RRA. At least that makes you smarter than some others. |
That's a good thing, IMO, for us guys who like the upper & lower fit extremely tight & no wobbles. Hard to get the take down pin out sometime, but that's the trade off. I have 2 RRA lowers of different vintages (15xxx and 24xxx) and both are perfect. |
Actually I've seen some so tight that the upper wouldn't close because of it. I've also seen problems with the pivot pin detent hole, and the selector detent hole not being drilled properly. |

I have been a customer of RRA for over 6 years now, starting with their 1911 custom pistols. I owned three of their 1911's, before I even bought my first AR. The 1911's are fantastic, if you think the AR's are good, you need to check out their 1911's. I had a slide lock issue on one on the 1911's, call RRA, they sent a pre-paid UPS pick up at my door on Monday, worked the issue with the pistol, emailed me the problem with the corrective action, over-night mailed the pistol back to me and I had it on the following Monday. The four AR's that I own have been flawless and so have all of my shooting buddies RRA AR's. Between all of us we own 11 RRA's AR's, all various kinds and styles. Not one issue with any of them. Mine all shoot 7/8" or less and have never failed. The staff at RRA are a pleasure to deal with, if you don't believe me, just call some of the other companies. I had to wait as long as 15 months for a 1911, but the quality is worth it. I have never waited more than 4 weeks for any other RRA AR component. My last order of two uppers, placed on January 27, 2005 at my door Fedruary 24, 2005. Both flawless. They will continue to be my brand of choice. Six years and outstanding product and service. 77Bronc |
| I checked out an RRA carbine at a local shop yesterday. It left me totally unimpressed. It had no chrome lined bore (and was priced about where a similar Bushy was), the finish was mediocre and the inside of the magwell had a large area that appeared to be overmachined. I've seen others that looked fine but this one was crap. |
| I forgot to mention, the rifle I looked at had "M4 Feed Ramps" that looked like some 8 year old with bad eyesight had dremeled out. They didn't line up well with the (standard) barrel extension and there was no finish where they were ground into the upper reciever. |
+1 I haven't seen much RRA bashing on here, except for the long wait times. Well, you're probably going to be in for an extended wait anywhere you go nowadays because of demand...other than that I haven't really seen anyone on here with any real grievances against them. Everybody seems to be very pleased with their products so I can't help but wonder where the original poster saw all this RRA bashing going on Fit and finish on mine are perfect, and my knock-off feed ramps are very well done...I am not disappointed with mine. If I had to do it over again I would probably have gone with the mid-length handguard, that being the only thing I'd do different...in fact, I just gave myself an excuse to buy another RRA; this one with the mid length guards |

I just thought I'd pipe in with my 2 cents worth. My M4gery has a Stag lower but other than that it is all Rock River. I have no complaints about the quality, it's first class, and the rifle functions flawlessly. I'm in the process of building a "competition" rifle. The lower is DPMS, but everything else is/will be RR. All I’m lacking is a LPK and a barrel, once again, no problems so far. As an addendum, the DPMS and Stag lowers are also first class. I got them locally, but got all the other parts from adco. Adco's service is also a cut above. |
Sounds like the shop, not RRA. The price has got little to do with RRA if you think about it, we see funny price differences all over the map around here from people saying they went to a shop. It is not uncommon to still see people asking why shops are charging $1200 for a "Pre-ban"
|
This is what I have noticed too. I had the same problem with my first build, and purchased a DPMS detent, and it fit in just fine. |
I've heard many people on here and elsewhere say Bushmaster has been letting the QC slip since the ban expired...more complaints about them any other, from what I read; even the almighty Colt is getting bitched about; those two I've seen way more so than RRA... |
|
all i've gotten from them is one stripped lower. it's gr8. went together simple, fits a little tight with the upper, but i like that better than being a little loose. WARNING- the color of a RRA DOES NOT match Fulton-Armory uppers other than than, all i can say (about RRA or FA) is- buy one! |
I too have noticed this with their upper. Also I wish they would change the way the front sight base is attached to their barrels. They need to go back to the solid taper pin. |
There was some bad blood against RRA because of their out of spec receiver rail fiasco a while back. Most of my builds use RRA parts and I like their products a lot. That being said, RRA (like anyone else) isn't perfect. They have had their fair share of problems. |
|
I got tired of their quality problems and just won't buy from them any more. Edited to add: If you really want to have the full RRA experience, I suggest buying from Legal Transfers (Pete in NH); they go well together -- each with lots of puffery about being the best while not measuring up.

WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Holy shit I've heard a LOT of Pete bashing lately! 'Splain that? When everyone gets stuff from Pete, he delivers and no one ever has anything bad to say. In fact, dudes go out of their way and can't get to the computer fast enough to just about have keyboard fellatio for the guy. I bought off Pete, I've talked to him a couple of times on the phone, and he seems like a nice guy. I've sent friends to Pete and ditto. Until recently, I thought everyone had that opinion. What the f**k happened?I'll tell ya wahat happened. It's called the post-count bandwagon. Just saw the Olympic bandwagon pass by today. Saw the Colt/Bushmaster/Armalite bandwagon a couple of weeks ago. Man, oh man. You can't keep up with it. I try to post cogent responses to people's legitimate questions, but it's hard to keep things on track with all the vultures circling overhead. Holy shit! Maybe I'm myopic in my views. Christ, I just talked to him on the phone not 3 or 4 weeks ago and he was very forthright and honest about the LMT stuff he had for sale, the pros and cons, and a timeframe to purchase the stuff. Who can argue that? Did he become this devil-worshipping heroin addict in the last couple of days or what??? If things were so bad with Pete, I don't recall reading ANYTHING in the last week or so about him sucking ass all of a sudden. Please, correct me if I'm wrong. Enlighten me. |
What are you talking about. I don't recall seeing anyone saying anything bad about Pete in this thread. Everyone is discussing RRA, not Pete from Legal Tranfers. |
|
VA gunnut, Look up a few posts. See that? Looks like Pete bashing to me. Check out the thread on the LMT complete firearms for sale that Legal Transfers is doing for LEO/Military personnel only. You want to see more Pete bashing? Go there for awhile. That's what "I'm talking about"! ![]() |

The quality of RRA products is fine form everything I have seen (with the exception of slightly corrked hanguards on my 9mm upper). The service, however, definitely leaves something to be desired. Both I and a friend have personal experience with their lackluster record keeping and customer service.
|
I missed that one post, but I still don't consider this thread a "Pete Bashing" thread. The LMT thread is a completely different discussion from this one. I do agree that the members of this site seem to work in cycles when it comes to what is good, and what is bad around here. I guess I've just gotten used to this kind of thing. |
| Well went to the range and shot a variety of ammo with no problems. I guess chances are there will always be a QC issue since some bad items are sure to get through. What makes the difference though is if RRA has good customer service and fixes their error. Out of the people that have had QC issues, have most been treated right by RRA? Since i've had no problems I really can't comment on RRA customer service because i havent had to deal with them. |
|
I have see issues with not just RRA Bushie had some fugly mismatched uppers and lower combos and a bright shiny blued FH. (prepaid mine in full and passed em up until I saw one I liked. It is perfect.) The DPMS rifles looked fantastic but I have apprehensions about them from their past. Though the shop near me sells lots of em and I shoot where their customers do and no one complained yet. Honestly I may buy one for my next AR. They looked that good. |
I agree. I apoligize for my rather "direct" post toward you, but I guess I'm not quite as used to it as guys who've been here longer. It seems the "bandwagon" I was referring to earlier becomes such a joke. If one guy posts someone (or thing) is great, a thousand say the same thing. The same thousand will post that "they" or "it" sucks on another day. Getting dizzy, I think.
|
Because of this reason, I am avoiding RRA stripped lowers. There is absolutely no reason for this and no reason that you have to file fit uppers to lowers. The tight fit is a feel good thing that does nothing to enhance the operation of the rifle. I do use alot of the barrels and small parts without issue, though. |
