Ok, on a whim I just picked up a Bushmaster A-2 from a local sporting goods store. Guess I missed the M-16 from my service days. Anyway, the rifle came with a 30 round mag marked Police/Miitary use only. (also had a bayonet lug..so I either got an old pre-ban or they didn't waste any time in the "sunset") When I went to the range to site it in, the magazine proved to be so much crap. Every (or every other if I was lucky) round from the left side of the mag missfed and jammed. I got frustrated and bought an aftermarket 30 round from the range. This one fed correctly but fails to load the last round (again on the left side) every time I tried it. Is this a common problem? Suggestions on the left side jamming? Thanks |

This is definitely a mag problem. Check the mag to see if the mag halves were even when welded together. If not, one feed lip will be higher than the other. Also, the mag should not flare out at the top where the feedlips are, and the feedlips should be straight and even. Fortunately, good mags are now easy to get and quite inexpensive. -Troy |

Try this, seems like a good price, $13.29 each and shipping is flat $5 from 1 to 50 mags. From the Magazine Forum. Green Mountain Good luck, Scott |
I get very frustrated around here sometimes |

I was using Remington 45 gr JHP. It was on sole so I figured what the heck. I examined the mag and could not find any visable damage or deformity. I plan to try it a few more times and see if it is a break-in issue. I cannot find any sort of manufacturers mark on the mag orther then BFI and the bushmaster logo. I did find out that it is a new rifle. Aparently Bushmaster wasted no time in throwing the bayonet lug, 30 rd mag, and a flash suppresor on them. Thanks for the response. |
