I just purchased a 20 round colt magazine earlier today. For target/hunting reasons. Quiet a bit shorter than a 30 rounder...anyways.

I got home and the mag is very tight in my mega lower. It will not drop-free and it has to be pushed in pretty hard (not forced though). I have 4 colt 30 round mags and 1 bushy 30 rounder. All drop free and are very easy to insert. The mag seems to function fine. It just doesn't drop like it should.

It happens.  I have a friend and we trade mags back and forth that don't fit right in our lowers.

Figure out which sides are bulged and put those in a vise (with something covering the jaws so you don't scratch your mag) and squeeze a little at a time and take out and try in your rifle between squeezes.  Just remember to take it to just fitting in the rifle.  Too much and the rounds won't feed properly or you could crack your mag!

I had this problem. I put the top 1/4 of the mags in a vise. Go slow it dont take much.

Probably your mag is old and squished out to the sides, I put them on the floor and gently step down on them.
