Hey everyone I am new to the site. The big question and I know some people may have ask this before but what brand of manufacture should I go with. The AR-15 will be my first rifle I will want to buy this summer and I am just S.O.L as to what manufacture to go with I hear mixed reviews. I am willing to drop around a grand so I want to hear your guys opinions. I keeping getting told Colt is a good brand but I read a few threads and I see some people get worked up :) over that. So any feedback would be awsome. I have shot the Colts in the military and they were fine but I just want some info. Thanks people.

Bushmaster or RRA .... it's hard to find a colt now..

personally I likes BM and RRA M4. the price is right and good quality. as of right now i only have 1 AR (BM) and looking forword to buy RRA next month.    a trigger kit from JP, Float HG for your AR then you'r all set.. .. I think that's good enough for a begginer... (just like me) ... just my $0.02 .....

RRA or Bushy get my vote.  Why pay more for a pony?

Okay, seriously, Colt is a good rifle.  However, I've had nothing but good experience with my Bushy, RRA and Eagle Arms products.  It is only my opinion that Colt is no better than my Bushy & RRA rifles.  Others will share my opinion and some will STRONGLY disagree.

Bushmaster.  Some say that they have better tolerances than Colt, and the cost a couple hundred less.

Colt, slightly edges out the Bushmaster, Colt's QC is the industry standard.  I own Colt, Bushmaster and Rock River, they are all fine rifle.  Buy which brand you like the best, what you think fits, feels and looks the best.

 welcome aboard, Ballistics.

I'd go with the Colt since it is the name synonymous with AR15's, and is in small ways- a better choice.

If Colt is an issue with you, the Bushmaster is a great choice as well, and has a reputation for fit, finish, quality, and accuracy.

Plus they have an A+ customer service department.

The best advice of all..............spend a few days bumping around this site- with  eyes, ears- and most importantly- your mind- wide open.

so much you can learn............ that could save you a lot of money and potentially grief.

If you do settle for a Bushmaster, order it ASAP... As of now there is a 3 to 4 month wait for M-4's.  Bushmaster is hoping that they can get caught up by spring, then again they told my last week that there is only a 8 week wait.  I'm now just about at 10 weeks waiting. hinking.gif

I say for a complete go with Bushy. Best standard features for the price, and unrivaled customer service from what I've heard. Then I'd say RRA and Armalite. If you have big bucks to spend, get a Colt LEO.

What does the closest dealer(s) have in stock? Go check them out.

In my area I found:
4 Colts. I thought they were heavy, had a good finish. I did not like the fact they were $1200.00
for a standard AR.

1OLY The finish was not as good the rifle did seem to feel loose. The cheapest of the bunch at $795.00.

10 to 20 Bushmasters good finish, feel and the prices were mid range $900.00 to $1400.00

1 RRA, however I was not abel to look at it because it was allready sold and I do not recall the price.

If this is your first buy do not do it blind. go look at them like I did.
I chose The Bushmaster Modular Carbine. Paid $1299.00 (See my Avatar)
It felt solid had the forestock I was wanting and it was in stock for me to pick up.
A few pluses I also liked was that it came in a case not a box. A cheap case for shure but I did not have to buy one with the rifle. Also it came with a thirty round Mag instead of the ten rounder as advertised. (I don't know if this is the norm) I got the serial numbers off of it before I bought it and sent an e-mail to BM looking for there information. They responded the next day with everything I was wanting to know. This quick responce said a lot to me about there service.

So I do not know what you are looking to gain here in this forum. I feel strongly that what ever you buy you will be happy with.
Hope this helped you out.
Rollyman out!
