I have an Olympic arms PCR-6 flattop that I bought a detatchable handle/sight and front detatchable sigth for and the front sight seems to be too high.  I can't get enough elevation to get my groups any closer than 4" low at 100 yds.  Could the short sight radius be causing this or has anyone else had this problem.  The rifle shoots great groups with the scope mounted but I am wanting to shot some high power matches with it and need the iron sights.  Thanks in advance.

Sounds like your Front sight post is too high.

Are you planning ot shoot high power matches with a 16" collapsible stock detatchable handle carbine?

I know that they recently permitted detachable handles...but collapsible stock might throw you into only "Match gun" category.   Lastly, you're going to want to bottom out your rear elevation knob and then use your front sight to zero for 200 yards.  You're still going to have to hold over a bit even with your elevation knob maxxed out at 600 yards...

Make sure the detachable FSB is for an AR15 rather than an AR10.

I haven't adjusted a front sight in awhile, but I believe they work opposite of that of a rear sight.

Right.  Move the front sight down to move impact UP.

My point is if you're going to shoot High Power, you want a 200 yard zero -specially with that detachable handle and its limited elevation dope.

So go zero at 200 with what you have , with the elevation on the rear sight all the way down to the bottom.

Thanks guys, the front sight is all the way down and the rear all the way up.  In the future I am going to buy a service rifle type upper if I get serious about shootingbut for now I'll just be using this one.  The only thing that I can figure out is that the front sight unit is too tall.  I am going to order another one in and see if it is any different.  If that doesn't work I may just get another gas block and mount the sight out further.  The barrel is a one inch heavy barrel so I don't know how it will look.

I've got the same problem with one of mine. I ended up cutting some of the front sight post off to get it to zero. PITA! I ended up removing the picatinny gas block and put a regular front sight base on it and the problem went away.
