I should have asked this question before, but only thought of it now...and I'm close to buying my first AR-15 soon.

I shoot left-handed (and can't change.)  Is there a major problem with the shells ejecting on the right?  I have extensive experience shooting 10/22's and sometimes I get a little burnt from powder or whatever, and every now and then a shell casing will hit me but it's not a big deal.  Are the .223 rounds going to pose a problem for me or does the gun do a pretty good job of keeping them forward of the shooter?

TIA

I believe DPMS and STAG arms have left handed rifles if that may be a concern for you.

I'm left handed and my AR15 rifles are all normal right-handed models.

Don't worry about being a lefty.  With the poissible exception of the selector (safety) you'll never notice the difference.

Lefty here.  No issues... as long as the rifle has a shell deflector.  I get hit sometimes when I shoot old rifles with early uppers.  No big deal.

And if you should happen to end up w/an early type (pre ejection deflector) put a Wolff extractor spring in; which will change the angle of ejection to straight out, or even slightly ahead.

no real problems.  My bushy throws em out on my cheek once in a while. I need to trim the ejector spring. Just haven't got to it yet.

Being a lefty, the ony concern I have with some rifles is that they don't  show the position of the safety on the right side of the lower.  My Bushmaster does, and my Olympic does not.  This may seem trivial, butI like to know the position of the safety without having to turn the rilfe over.  My first AR was a Bushmaster and I became used to it.  When I took my Olympic to the range if was one of the first things I noticed about it after I loading it
