Hey guys I only have had one AR and it was a RRA varmint model. I am wanting to get another AR very soon and want something like the RRA Entry Tactical model www.rockriverarms.com/item-detail.cfm?ID=AR1251X&storeid=1&image=nbrentry.gif&CFID=6741224&CFTOKEN=61525221&jsessionid=c030c04bb9f7W$AB2$CF Would you guys recommend this model of RRA or would you recommend another brand or build one my self with your info? As you can see in the pic this is the style I am looking to get, just looking for better options if there is any. I like the Armalite model but there they only say the MOA will be 1.5-2 inchs and the RRA says 1 inch. Edited to say I will sooner or later stick a EO Tech on it and will really just use it to bang away on targets and maybe some 3-gun action. |

rra looks good--forget about getting that detachable tactical handle--get BUIS instead i dont think that you can go wrong w/ either rra or armalite if you go w/ a build, you might save a little cash, but put that saved cash into accessorries building is easy: www.ar15.com/forums/forum.html?b=3&f=4 just get a stripped lower and an AR kit (www.jtdistributing.com/or www.del-ton.com/) and assemble--only need an armory tool, punches, lite hammer, etc builds are good for the long run--you will save lots of $$$s just make sure you get 5.56 chambering and chrome-lined bbl |

Back up Iron Sight. Sine the Tactical Entry is a flat-top, you may want to add a BUIS and a primary scope like Aimpoint, Eotech or the ACOG if you can afford it. To get something similiar in quality to the Tactical Entry, you will have to spend $900-1000 with any other brand. You are talking about an M4 upper, with NM triggered lower, with Hogue grip for $750-800. That's a great price. Make sure to get the chrome lined barrel. It will be easier to resale later (Don't get started on the debate - I'm purely speaking resale)

He means the removable "Tactical Carry Handle" on the RRA Entry Tactical. Nobody but me seems to like it because it won't allow you to cowitness your iron sights with an Aimpoint unless you use the flimsy mounting rings that Aimpoint makes. I actually prefer my primary sight (Aimpoint) to be above my BUIS (back-up iron sights) and out of the way, and I like the height that the TCH places the Aimpoint when using a good mount like the ARMS 22M68. If I ever have a failure in my primary sight, it is just a throw-lever away from removal, which takes me about as much time as flipping up a fold-down rear sight. RRA makes an excellent AR - I love mine and I am a one-man fan club for the tactical carry handle. http://www.hunt101.com/img/246758.jpg |

Troy, that RRA Tactical is the exact same blueprint (style and configuration) as the Bushmaster M4 A3, or the Colt LE6920. Bushmaster M4A3 source Colt LE source Another RRA source to consider The Colt is the more expensive one, and is widely regarded as the better of the 3. That said, the other 2- Bushmaster M4 A3 and RRA Tactical- would be very good alternatives and value-wise for a carbine...... great picks. Just don't use that carry handle or don't even buy it if its an option. ALPHAGHOST covered the points of that for you. RRA makes very good AR's as does Bushmaster, it comes down to price and availability. No matter which you choose, a waiting period may be in store. Unless of course you get busy on the Equipment Exchange (here on AR15.com), or can find a dealer with one on hand Good luck to you |

Huckie PM sent.... Thanks All Waiting list = damn I will check it out Monday at a couple places nad see whos has the better prices between RRA and Bushy. My boss has a FFL and doesnt charge anything extra except $15.00 for shipping. He has never ordered from Bushmaster or RRA before, I wonder if it would be worth having him try to price the 2 for me, or go to a public sporting good store? Troy |

Is the Flashhider welded on the RRA Entry/Car models. Which is worth more welded or not? Yeah I looked at the Car model and thought I would just get the Entry model because of the look of the barrel. No big deal I guess? So in the pic above, that rear site upper model is good or bad? |

i've got an entry model. my flash hider is the mock press on. i'll be changing that soon. it's a great firearm, the only thing is with the shorty stock-medium to bigger framed people with think it's too short. i was border line, but my dad who has broad shoulders couldn't stand it. i put a 6 pos. collapsable stock and it's gravey now. great weapon in my opinion. jake

I wanted the Entry Tac for awhile but gave up becaise I couldnt find one after waiting several months. I went with DPMS instead, but RRA does make a fine product. Like some have suggested, building might be a better route. Mating a CMMG upper to CMMG lower would give you a much better and fully featured rifle |

TroyR308, I have built an AR from some DPMS parts, and the M4egry has been fine. I used a colt 1/7" M4 barrel though. All mil-spec. No problems. I also have RRA tactical entry w/ chrome lined barrel, excellent. Comparying a NIB bushmaster and RRA, the fit and finish on the RRA is far superior. RRA takes the time to fit the parts, polish the feed ramps, bolt carrier where it contacts the hammer, and hammer. The feed ramps are also cut into the receiver like the 6920s. At least on mine. RRA includes a sling clamp on the barrel and a regular sling, National match trigger, one 30 rd mag, and a heavy buffer too. Bushmaster, no polish feed ramps and they (ramps) don't go into the receiver, like M4s. Standard trigger, but does have a 4150 chrome lined chrome-moly barrel. 4140 or 4150? Who cares unless you shoot FA. Came w/ nice case, sling, and one 30 rd mag. I love them both! If you don't like the Tact carry handle, call and speak to Amber from sales, and ask for a RMA number to ship back the handle in exchange for std handle and one 30 rd mag or no carry handle and mags. Building is another option. Mine came in 6 weeks, long wait, but well worth it. Second one I ordered is now 8-12 weeks, even longer wait. My RRA entry no longer looks stock with all the stuff I have put on it though. Well over 9 lbs |
I've been very happy with my DPMS. For $750 I purchased the AP4 PANTHERâ„¢ CARBINE model. I'm very happy with what I got. T Marked Upper, Chrome plated Carrier , A3 upper, M4 feed ramps, NSN (NATO) serial marked cleaning kit, 2 Mil Spec black teflon 30 round mags, carry case... DPMS also has the most durable finish out of my 3 AR rifles. After eating 1000 rounds of LC M193 without a jam a wipe down with CLP showed the brass deflector didnt have a single blemish. So yeah my DPMS worked out fine...I'd give them my money again. Once my barrel is shot to hell I'm going to put a CMMG 1:7 4150 CL barrel on it |

I just got my Entry Tatical (NO BAN) last week. Only the M4 barrels have the option of chrome lining. The detachable tatical carry handle is optional. I ordered mine with the regular detachable carry handle. The fit is so frigging tight. I had to use a brass punch with a hammer on the pin to give my baby its first cleaning. Don't even think about trying to take off the handguards, I was turning red with sweat dripping off my face with the help of two friends to get the handguards off. I really can't say how much I paid for it since I work for a fun shop. I ordered it straight from RRA. I origionally ordered it on Oct. 15th and received it on Jan. 23rd. I really like this rifle. |
