I was thinking about a new gas block w/ flip up irons ... but why not just shave the original irons off? I mean, if I take a dremel to it, shave it off so that it's just a gas block, polish the edges and refinish it, wouldn't it essentitally be the same as some of the "Low Profile Gas Block" (example: PRI Steel Gas Block ) out there? Then after that I'd be able to fit rails such as the LaRue 9 incher and slap a front and rear rail-mounted BUIS, add a TA31F and I'll have: 1. A flip-down front iron that won't be visible in the TA31F. 2. Backup front and rear irons. What do you guys think about this? |

nevermind, I just found this: www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=3&f=4&t=214270&page=1 DOH! Sorry! |
I heard that there's actually a pin that holds the flash hider in, preventing it from spinning. Is this true? This is what worries me the most, I don't want to break the barrel by twisting it w/ the pin. If this is not the case, all I need is some heat and a wrench like you said. |
If it is on a 14.5" barrel then its pinned and welded. If its a FH (not a Muzzle Break like on post ban) and on a 16" barrel then its just tightly screwed on. No heat required. |
Thanks! Both of my are 16" this is eggcellent news. |
