Hell for the value, I'd be honored to join Brothers of the Steel Case.  Here's my first 500 round of Wolf steel cased-polymer coated ammo for plinkin'.

so does the polymer coating replace the laquer coating on the steel case to prevent chamber wear?

I don't think the coating had anything to do with chamber wear, some people attribute it to the fact the the steel is harder metal than the bore of your rifle.  Others say it doesn't matter at all.

I have fired some of the new Wold and was impressed with it for the money.  It fired through my fathers Oly just fine and through my home built like there was no tomorrow.  In fact, I liked it enough that I picked up a 1,000 rds so I can shoot the "other" stuff when I need to.

For the money I can shoot a lot more.

Take care

The purpose of the polymer coating, and the laquer coating before it, was to prevent corrosion of the steel case during storage. Brass will not readily corrrode (turn green, yes). Steel is cheaper than brass, that's one reason why wolf is cheap. But they have to coat it with something to prevent the cartridge case from rusting.

I shoot wolf, but it is definitely plinking ammo and not for accuracy shooting.

might be a dumb ?? but is the steel case reloadable...??

You're right, of course, that the coating protects the steel cases that would otherwise begin to oxidize quickly.  In addition to this, the folks at wolf claim their new "polyformance" coating provides "superior lubricity" that "eases wear in gun chambers and alleviates excessive operational and maintenance issues associated with rapid firing".

so in other words, no more sticky chambers from hot laquer buildups?

You know.....that Wolf stuff isn't that cheap. You shoot more because it's cheaper so you run out so damn quickly that you have to go by more

First, steel case ammo is NOT reloadable.
Second, It wasn't the green laquer that was the problem, It was the red bullet sealent, look at the polymer ammo, no red sealent.

Why doesn't an American company compete with the "wolf" market.
It seems lots of folks dont want to pay 20 cents per round to put holes in paper.

only Bitch with Wolf is that it is extremely dirty and it stinks like burning piss
