Alright, guys, I need some help. My agency finally annonced today that they are going to purchase and allow us to carry rifles on patrol. Seems we are the last agency in the world going to rifles. They announced that they are going with Mini 14's over AR's because they can get the Ruger for about $500 each. Surely I can find some A2's at close to that price out there, but I need help in persuading them in AR over Mini 14. So, here's where I need your help, what are advantages/disadvantages of AR over Mini 14? I am not a fan of the Mini 14, I have a love for the bad black gun!

Typically, AR's are lighter, more accurate, more choices when you want to customize. You can get them in selective fire. I'm sure there are plenty of more reasons, but those just popped into my mind.

Well, if you want to be able to hit a perp, you'd better go with the AR-15 over the Mini-14.
