Trying to decide how to build a new AR, unfortunately I live in NY so I can't put the really neat stuff on it.

How strong are the ACE skeleton stocks?  As strong as an A2 stock, or less so?

The ACE ARFX stock (the one that looks like a chopped crutch) is way strong.  I have the shorty one as I like to hold my AR compressed and tight while I shoot (especially while moving around).  It's the same length as a fully collapsed 4 position stock +1 position out (about 9" from the reciever).  I like it a lot.  I highly recommend it.  The down side is that you can't use any of the standard single point sling plates that fit in front of standard stocks.  But they do include an uncle mike's sling attachement in place of it which can be mounted on either side or at the back at the heel of the butt.  You can see what mine looks like HERE.

Excellent job on the rifle!  Looks great.
Is that the stud on the bottom, right at the buttplate?

yes it is.  The pan head screws at the front of the stock are the other locations were the stud can go as well.
