My SP1 was also class 3d, and turned into an XM177E2 clone, back in 1979.  Since then, I've acquired 5 other ARs, but it's still my favorite

Hey stickman: how do you tell which way the sight is suppose to be flipped,, I'm guessing large hole is for night?? I just got my SP1 back after a 35 yr mistake of sell my new one...35 yrs ago the only gun I have ever sold , or ever will .

I bought one new in 1981 and have left it completely stock.  I guess it's a classic now.

I've got an SP1 #74XXX, all original as I received it back in late 80's or so.  Can't seem to get it to shoot so trying to trade it off or sell for a new RRA DCM/CMP rifle.  I don't know what the trick is to getting it to shoot but I can't make it a DCM rifle without pouring more $$ into it.  Guess you guys know the knack.  Tried an Oly HBAR SS, a few other tricks.  Guess I should stick to Springfields and Garands?!?

I understand there is quite the following out there for SP1's.  Must be something special...

I have a old SP1 full auto also, Set up as a shorty right know. Got to love the old SP1.
