Is there some trick to removing this pin? I had problems fitting the bolt release spring that came with my Colt LPK but like an idiot I installed it anyways. Now the bolt catch does not work unless operated manually--bolt release spring appears to be way too strong. I'd like to remove it, but I can't get the roll pin out. I've pounded on it with all manner of punches w/ little effect (other than bending the punches). Is there a trick to getting this f****** pin out? A blowtorch perhaps? (kidding)

I'm assuming that I will need to replace the bolt release spring, but is it possible that it will loosen up with time?

First thing, did you install the bolt assembly properly?  Spring into the hole first then the detent?  Did you use the proper spring?  Holes like the bolt catch spring detent hole can have debris left in them from the machining and anodizing process, it's always a good idea to clean the holes out with a proper fitting drill bit turned by hand.  Refer to this link if you have any doubts about the assembly procedure...

If you did properly install the bolt catch assembly try dripping CLP into the spring detent hole and work the bolt catch by hand to see if you can clean it up and get it to function...

I had the same problem with my RRA.  The bolt catch would not fit well in the groove.  After I put the pin in, it would not work at all without a lot of pressure.  I used a smaller roll pin punch to drive it back out, the way it came in.  Didn't have any problem getting it out.  Replaced the RRA catch with one fron J&T.

Make sure you are using good quality punches.

Yes, I installed exactly as shown w/ the proper spring, though like I said, it didn't seem to fit correctly. The coil at one of the ends was too large for the hole. Had to tweak it a bit to make it fit. I didn't check for debris in the hole--receiver was brand new, so that may have been an issue.

I tried some CLP--it made it slightly better, but not enough to fix the problem.

I have a nice punch set but it doesn't include a punch small enough for that pin, so I've had to resort to my cheapo set. The pin just won't budge. Guess I'll have to invest in yet another punch set. Any suggestions as to where to get good quality small punches?
