Santa brought me a Leupold rifleman 2x7 for Christmas.  I realize that it's hardly a top end scope, but I'm just not that into scopes to spend a lot of money.
Anyway, on my 20" Colt I've got an ARMS #40 BUIS, and the only way to mount the scope is to have the back of the scope butting right up to the BUIS, and I still have adequate eye relief this way.
I had mounted it with both ARMS #22 behind the windage and elevation buttons, as that  is the only place where there is room due to the BUIS.  The only way I could fit both mounts behind the adjustment knobs was to face the mounts in opposite directions, and I lose my QD option as the mounts are going in opposite directions to come off.
The only solution I have found is to mount the scope with ONE ARMS #22 Mount and still have the QD option.
Is one ARMS mount sturdy enough to hold this scope?  It seems like it will, but I want some experts to chime in and give me advise.  Is there another QD Mount maker that makes one piece?
I'd rather stick with what I've got if it'll work, but spending $100 on a mount would buy 500 rounds of good ammo or mags or something else.......thanks in advance for any replys

use two rings... i would doubt one of any ring is strong enough. You should be able to get them both on there. The other thing you could do is sell off the ARMS #40 and get an ARMS #40L. Its lower and should fit underneath the scope just fine. This will give you more room to mount both rings as well.

Armalite comes to mind... need more real estate on the upper to clear the BUIS though.

IS the ARMS #40L all that much lower than the standard?   It would have to almost half  the height to work.

What is that piece called underneath the scope mount?  I wonder if I could just get that and make it work..........

Since you already have the scope and the rings, you could just get a rail extension from Bushmaster. It'll give enough room for both rings, plus raise the scope over the BUIS. Cheap, but effective.

what height rings do you have. It may put it up higher than you like by using the rail and High rings.

Buy a LaRue throw-lever scope mount and be done.  It is the *best* solution, and not all that expensive.

Since I've already got a BUIS, would the ARMS #36 that comes with the BUIS do what I need?

After I posted that quesion I found the Larue mount, and it looks like the mount wouldn't leave room for a BUIS

maybe its not as expensive as some others, but Leupold makes some terrific optics- in fact, some of the best.
