| Like many others here on the board I am on a couple of waiting lists for a 6920. I don't know why I want want of these so bad, especially since I am a Bushmaster owner. I just noticed on one of the other forums that a local dealer has some in stock for $1400. Both waiting lists I'm on are 2-300 less than this price. Although both dealers that I'm waitlisted on assure me than they can still get more rifles, should I take advantage of buying one locally at this price? If I buy one now my wife would shit, since I haven't started shopping for her yet. |

You want one because of basic economics. The demand is high and the supply is low. Plus the fact you're not supposed to have one. Colt doesn't want you to own them. Colt doesn't want your business. Why is everyone drooling over these things? The ones I've seen so far have issues with the finish on them and for this you are paying a premium price. It's like buying a brand new car with a f'd up paint job and you justify it being ok because it took so long to get. Screw Colt and buy from a manufacturer that wants your business. Buy two Bushmasters. I know, I know...bring on the flaming! I'm just tired of hearing about it and I'm cranky because I'm at work! |
Any reason why you chose to put the ACOG flattop mount ON TOP of the ARMS mount? Just curious.... |
Because I just choked up $4500 for lasik sugery and I'm completely tapped out for a ARMS mount. edit: oh, I just realized what you were saying. The mount between the upper and the TA51 mount is the BMAS extention, I was experimenting w/ raising the scope so the front irons aren't in the view. However, I'm getting a flip-up front and rear BUIS for the LE6920 soon. The ACOG will be mounted on a throw-lever ARMS mount instead. It's still an on-going project. |
I Hope the price deflates. However I aint holden my breath. Just my 6920.... |
| In response to Buzz 70: Just a bad case of gun lust. You are right, I want one because for ten years I couldn't have one, and now that the ban is finally dead I want all of the evil goodies. As far as other manufactures are concerned, I love my Bushmaster it has been 100% reliable. After looking at the latest generation of Bushmasters, Colts, Armalite, DSA, and Rock River, I was most impressed with the Rock River's finish. I could almost pick up two RR's for the price of one Colt. Something twisted in me falls for all of the Interent hype about not being able to get a 6920 although I know deep down that it is probably BS. Last time I bought an AR it came down to Colt and Bushmaster. Side by side I chose the Bushmaster. |

IMHO if Colt continues to refuse to sell these to the public then the price will not go down. It may even off, but not go down. They will continue to be a hot item until the next model or manufacturer comes along with a rifle that they won't sell to the public. What a great marketing scheme. If I owned an AR15 manufacturing company I'd make a "special" model that I would only sell to, hmmm... let me see... Special Forces members, the Secret Service or Foriegn Lesbian Dignitaries, yes something like that. I would make it well know that any dealer selling my "special" model to the general public would be dealt with in an unspeakable manner. Then I would create a black market and sell these "special" models on gun auction sites for a ton of money! Yes I'm jealous! If I could afford a 6920 I'd get one! Sorry for the ranting!

| Make your own. Buy the 6920 upper from SAW and build a quality lower with the proper sized lower parts. |

Shooter's Discount, (410)247-6757, just got a new batch of 6920's in @ $1299 each. They said that this will be the last shipment they will EVER get as their distributor is discontinuing sales of Colt rifles because of a steep price hike by Colt after the new year. The distributor will be switching over to Bushmaster now that all their Colt orders have finally been filled. When I heard that, I bought another for a "rainy day". This said, I don't think that we'll see a time that the Colt rifles are as competitively priced as other makers. Also, if the sales policies stay the same at Colt they may just eliminate themselves from the AR marketplace all together, just like the 1911. I don't think it'll be any mystery as to what that would do to the value of LEO rifles that are kept in NIB condition. If your gonna save it, buy the Colt. If you want a shooter buy another brand. |
| All of my weapons are shooters, even my first generation National Match garand. If I cave in to the hype and buy one of these overpriced 6920's it will go to the tactical shoots and regular range just as often as the rest of my weapons. I don't like Colt's attitude towards civilians, but HK is even worse. I have no loyalty towards Colt in any way, I just happen to like the 6920 over some of the other m4gery's I've handled. |
One of mine has a suspect finish on the upper receiver on the eject cover, and edges of flat-top grooves. No biggie, and probably not noticeable to most. But compared to my other 6920, or my other AR's, it is less than 100%. But what am I gonna do? Send it back? Yeah right! or better yet, I should send it to one of you guys (to fix). |
Hummm $949. for upper + $300 or more for a quality complete lower with milspec colapsable. = $1,250. on the low side. Now you have shipping on multi items. For a mutt. Ill go the extra $100. or so for the real thing. |
especially since the draw is the (Restricted) LE Lower! |
GSD 2053, OK, when I get my complete 6920, I'll make you a helluva deal on my 6920 upper I currently have |
| I think I'm even further down the list than you. I'm on another list where I was told between 60-90 days. We'll see what happens in the new year. Hopefully all the talk about no civie sales, LE letterhead, price increases will not affect the Clyde Armory list. Since they are a state contractor, they might have more pull than the local dealer. |
