I bought my first AR-15 yesterday!! hmasterIt is great, can't wait to shoot it.
I really couldn't decide between the M4 and the 20" A2 configuration, but after holding both of them, I seemed to like the feel of the carbine better. Also, they were the same price, which really suprised me. I guess I felt like I got a better deal with the M-forgery.

I would like opinions on whether I should try to follow a barrel break in procedure with the chrome barrel or not. Does it really matter? I don't think I will be shooting this particular upper for distance accuracy anyway.

Thanks!!

Congrats on the new addiction hobby..

On my chrome lined RRA 16" I shot 250 rounds, ran a bore snake through it, and then shot another 500 rounds and ran the bore snake through it again.  Clean as the day it was born.

Thats great! I have always loved ARs. Is your M4 an A2 or A3? I'm guessing A2 cuz it was priced the same.

Welcome and congratulations on your new rifle.  You chose well.  I have two BM M4's and narry a hiccup with a combined 10,000 rounds through them.  No special breakin is required with the chrome lined barrel, just follow the BM manual and you will be fine.  Shoot straight and be safe...ENJOY!!

Did ya get a black one?

You will be sorry. They are  like crack cocaine. The only thing worse is buying a CMP Garand.

Great deal there, chevy!

That's nice to hear given the fact that many gun show buys are either stories of- paid too much, or got sub-standard quality.

sounds like you beat both myths with your Bushy buy.

Welcome to ARFCOM!!

Sure sounds like a great deal, chevy!  I just put a Bushy M4 A2 16" with the Birdcage on layaway, and it cost me $899.

You got a heckuva deal, imo!

The thrill of getting my first AR is still fresh in my mind. I too am a Colt guy but I think they're all fine weapons, it's just a matter of personal preference. You need to have another $1000 for the minimum "upgrades" like optics, rails, stocks etc. Also, your first AR is the beginning of the serious "Black Rifle Affliction". You'll soon have a need to get another, then another ad infinitum. I'm on my fourth AR and I can't stop, someone PLEASE HELP ME

It was the A2 variety, with the Birdcage flash supressor. With the Holidays and such, it may be a week or two before I get to go to the range and burn a little powder.
I guess I will just have to sit and hold it in my lap and fantasize until then!!
