| Who makes a chrome lined mid length handgaurd 16" barrel? I have seen the CAV arms uppers for sale but I really just want the barrel preferably stripped but I'll take one with the FSB/lug installed. Thanks. |
Mine is still in back order...6 weeks now. I guess it is a little tough to get barrels from RRA at this time.
|
I have no complaints about the HGs on my RRA mid-length. Don't know how well they hold up to heat though--have only done slowish fire with it (1 shot every 5-10 seconds). I would have assumed that RRA & Armalite get their HGs from the same place. Try Cavalry Arms. They make mid-length HGs in both normal and the fatter M4-style. |
Dude, quit confusing reality and fantasy- everyone knows there is no such thing as Canadian paratroopers! ![]() BigBore, are those barresl goign to be 1/9 or 1/7? |
LOL! ![]() If BigBore is indeed talking about the Giffman mid-length barrel group buy then they have a 1/7 twist. |
I still say its a waste of money to pay extra for a chrome lined, 1:7, 4150 barrel compared to standard RRA/BM barrel. But I'm in business to make money, and if theres a demand, I'll supply. The AR crowd is an interesting bunch

Truer words have never been spoken! |
I'll also add that when you start getting into highend AR's and 1911's it aint about need anymore. We will get what we want because we can. If we were only limited to what everyone thought we "NEEDED" we would be lucky to even be allowed to own a 10/22 and .38 and you'd probably be out of business... Also for someone like me who doesn't have a whole store full of AR's I want my two AR's to have the option to shoot the best Zombie stopping, Canadian Paratroop defending ammo available. I also know a few people who always tell me I don't need my 4x4 Jeep but who's laughing now. Cheers! |

One thing I love about America - the word "need" doesnt meant the same to us as in other countries. When it comes to selling the "not needed" barrels, someone here posted it just right - Those who dont know, and ask my "sales opinion" will be happy with the less expensive 1:9, knowing they will never shoot anything more than white box. Those who DO know, wont ask me and will just order. Retail is in interesting game. Like any hobby there is a fine line to balance when catering to your customers. With RC cars, some will be happy with battery powered, while others will want gas engines. |
| IIRC the "giffman" barrel is .72" full length (except for under the FSB, by the chamber, and a flange for the HG cap). My RRA (a 1:8 SS) was more like .74 in front of the FSB and about .9" under the HGs. I believe a RRA profiled by Adco will be less than .72" under the HGs (more like .63") and the same .74" in front of the FSB. |
Giffman mid specs: .72 from barrel nut to the handguard cap .78 step for the handguard cap .75 for the FSB .72 from FSB to muzzle |
