Okay. I f you have a pin (or two) that goes all the way through, you're done. You can pop the break off with a lot of effort, but it's not worth it. You'll fine beneath it only Armalite's clever splines. And you'll then need to send the bbl off to be threaded. So. Send it off in the first place. Now. If you have what is quite clearly a refinished weld spot on the bottom of your brake, you're good to go. Armalite puts these pins in from the side. Best way to get it out is to vice the bbl upside down, and begin witha dremel or cut off wheel, and very carefully cut /across/ the brake (sideways) until you can tell the pin from the metal around it. See the way it's oriented, and start cutting across the length of the pin. (You may have to rotate the barrel. These pins ar in sideways, and often at an angle.) Eventually, you'll see a tiny cavity begin to appear at the blind end of the pin. Get a pick in there, or tap a punch in there, the pin falls out. Unscrew the brake, and be happy. No, I don't have pics. SEARCH, however, will reveal them. And much more brake removal goodies. |
| I wanted to install a FF tube on my Armalite M15A2.The FSB would not slide off over the MB.MB is a splined/ press fit w/ single pin.Did not have proper tools to remove MB.Sent upper to Armalite and had them do it.I also told them to re-use my handguards and MB.Saved 70-80$ doing this. |
