I am pretty sure I know the answer just want to make sure.

I have been stocking up some on ammo before the gun gets together. I have 4 boxes of white boxed winchesters. Wal-mart had 40 for 7.50$ so I bought a box of those and 100 9mm rounds. Which wal-mart sold me for some reason...even though I am not old enough. Anyways.

Got home and noticed the 20 round boxes are 5.56mm and the 40round box is .223. My RRA is the inbetween chamber. So I am assuming it is safe to shoot both correct?

If your RRA upper has the .223 Wylde chamber you are good to go.  I have two.......they'll eat anything.

What are you getting?

I already have the upper. It is the A4 16'' CAR post-ban model. RRA says 5.56/.223. I think its the wylde chamber. Used to say it on the website I thought. Now it says 5.56/.223 so I should be ok.

I plan on building another rifle with RRA stuff. Next is going to be a 20''. The a4 flattop is going with the 20'' barrel and I am going to put my 16'' barrel on a a2 receiver. I kinda wish I would have waited and got the no-ban but I didn't want to wait a month or two to get it. Oh well.

Have you ever heard the saying "too much information"?

Nah that isn't to much info. They asked me if it was for a pistol and I said no...so maybe they can legally sell them to me I'm not sure.

But I should be able to shoot 5.56mm and .223 REM right?

Yes, 5.56mm and .223 are nearly identical.

And as long as the weapon you are purchasing the ammo for isn't a pistol, you can buy whatever ammo you like.

I tried to purchase some .22lr awhile back...which was actually for a rifle and they wouldn't let me buy it. I was angry. Ended up having to have my dad buy them. One women that worked there swore up and down that I couldn't buy 30-06 shells...finally got a manager and he was like sure hes 20 he can buy them.

Guess it just depends on who is waiting on you.

Heres my question. How can they prove that I am not going to use them in a pistol.

Most of the no-brains there have no idea why they even ask the cash-register-prompted question.  When the obviously gray haired 40 yr. old is buying .22 ammo, the question has no merit. Pistol or rifle matters not, unless you are in a pistol ammo registration state (unlikely) Brain damaged fuskers.............
