I am having trouble getting the charging handle on my model 1 sales upper to clear the telestock, especially when it is fully retracted. Is this normal? Seems like the tolerance should not be this close. This is one ot the 6 position stocks that TAPCO sells.

File down the top part of the telestock that comes in contact with it and it will be fine.Maybe thats why the colt extesions dimensions are a bit smaller. In any event filing flat that little bit should do the trick

No it's not normal - it IS the result of buying a cheap stock.  Do a search and you'll find plenty of warnings against buying them (including this very problem).

Get a RRA M4 model. A bit more , but not that much more and a nice stock for the money (About $55). ADCO has 'em.

Loosen the locking ring, press down on the telestock plate that's blocking the charging handle, then tighten the locking ring back.  If that doesn't fix your issue, then file away.

I had a RRA stock that did the same thing, but my above instructions fixed it completely.

Sounds more like the sliding part of the stock is the problem, from his description.

I have a DSA stock. Its not colt, but it def works great.

Anyway, point is, mine has a 'notched' top to let the handle clear it. If you copy it, you should be fine.

Yeah, there already is a flat spot on top of the stock, it just has to be perfectly alingned or filed a little more, I got it working good right now. Dont mean to rain on anbodys parade, but I have an RRA telestock also, and you cant tell it apart from the TAPCO stock other than the markings.
