I have a new LMT M4 upper and separately bought a new standard LMT carrier and enhanced bolt.  I am having trouble finding someone in my area to check the headspace.  None of the local gun shops do it and I do not want to purchase the necessary gauges to check one rifle nor do I know anything about what to check for.  What are the chances for a kaboom if I just go ahead and shoot it?

The chances of a kaboom are slim to none, and slim just left.

The whole headspace "issue" with ARs has been blown waaaaaaaay out of proportion-possibly by the people pushing gauges. There is no way to adjust headspace in an AR, period.

With new parts, if there isn't enough headspace then the bolt won't close on a live round. If there is too much then the bolt won't lock fully, meaning that the weapon won't fire.

In short, don't worry about it and hit the range
