with all the demand - and sales of the Colt LE6920

How many do you think there are/will be in civilian hands after, say the next 6 months?

I have heard and seen lists 200 long at a single dealer, and an obscure one at that.

Could it be that the LE6920 will end up being one of the most widely held models and therefore, worthless as a safe-queen investment?

Just curious?

If it is one of the most popular models out there, it will still remain as the best quality AR you can buy.

At least 4 or five times a week, I hear about or talk to folks who are looking for one,,especially the 1 of 300 HBs. They don't want to pay the $1500 and up prices though. I think that demand will exceed supply for awhile.

I am just glad I have mine

I'd probably be concerned if mine was a safe queen.

This is why I think buying weapons for investment purposes is next to buying lottery tickets on the scale of sound economic theories.

Knowing Colt, they probably will not budge on civilian sales until they dump their post ban inventory or have a fire sale on it.  As for the LE6920, it is just a supply and demand thing right now.  Colt will just see the $$$ signs and continue to crank them out despite their CYA policy of LE only.  This will just lower their value in the long run.  Remember the ridiculous prices on Colt M4 uppers?  Deja vu!  I just saw a LE6920 lower on Gunbroker for a starting bid of $799.

I know that I'm tired of seeing 5 threads titled LE6920 every time I read this section.  I wish Colt would make and sell them just so it could end!

I have one

Some way Colt will make money on the demand of the LE 6920.

For what it is worth, a dealer in Hampstead NC told me Colt will have a M4 Variant with all the LE 6920 features out by middle of next year.

I talked to him last Friday about getting one.

The dealer is listed on the Colt web site as an authorized dealer, so who knows might be true?

I guess then the LE6920s will be worth more because of the markings on the side.

When I get mine I will definitely shoot it.

The way this thing shoots, along with the fit and finish, I may have to buy another. Colt outdid themselves with this weapon. Do you really think Colt thinks these things are all going to LEO agencies?

Your dealer is probably right.  It just makes too much sense for Colt to sell us the good stuff.  Think about it, their choices are either (1) make one kind of rifle on the same production line that everyone wants, civvies and LEOs, or (2) have two separate production lines so that they can make a line of civy rifles that no one wants.

Seems to me that at some point the market will force Colt to give us what we want.

I agree happy

as a company, they cannot stand by while BM and others fill the demand. And BS to the notion of liability of LE firearms,  as the 6920 is no more or less vulnerable to those issues. (colts cryptic refusal to sell the LEO products to civilians)

I just wonder how many LE6920's are actually out there- all together??? My guess is less than 2,500.

I heard (can not confirm it) that Colt ramped up production of the LE6920 a bit before the sunset.

My guess is colt send out the email and letter to their dealers about LE only just to look good to the anti-gun types, or in the event of a frivilious lawsuit.

If colt wanted ban LE rifle sales to the civvie public; couldn't they just offer the LE-M4 with the 14.5" barrel only and not offer a 16" model ?

OK
Overload?

Have you noticed every week there are less and less of these on Gunbroker and those sites?
Do you see some guy is using GunsAmerica to take deposits on ones that may never get here?

In the past two weeks I have seen the NON HB LE6920 Selling for up to 1695 on sites (selling, not asking prices) so I think the value will keep going up.  Colt is not going to keep shipping these and if you think Colt is going to start making these again for Civi use you are crazy!

Colt has been saying they want out of the civi market for things like this due to liability....

Also, we you will see a new assault weapons ban soon...  Very very soon.
Don't be surprised if you see belt feds banned in Feb.
Also dont be surprised to see an assault ban starting around then if not sooner.
Bush clearly said he would sign one put across his desk.
There are PLENTY of Republicans who want to ban these, there are even more Dems who want them gone.
It was just pushed back due to the election and no one wanted to piss the NRA off.
Look at the world, most places don't allow these types of guns.
Most people in the US see no use for these, they are not hunting rifles, we dont have wars on our streets so in their mind there is no reason to have them.
They see those and they think or war and terrorist.
Little do they know most hunting rifles can do far more damage BUT its an image thing.  Get your toys now while you can....

JYOGI I just bought a 6520 [carbine not HBAR] new manf colt last week, All the "good" stuff on it. 1K out the door, so they are out there, dealers are dumbasses as I had fun asking about it at a show yesterday most of them said, OH, illegal no such thing, B.S. I'd pull it out and show them. Most would say thats a preban not a late manf. But they had bushies all over in the same config, so go figure. I would bet on a mag ban before a weapons ban again.

First of all: A big THANK YOU for your service and sacrifice.
Second: Don't pay any attention to the doom and gloom guys with their new awb prophecy.
Lastly: If by some slim unforseen chance they do get a ban in place, it won't include what people already own.
That being said, if they do pass a ban, you can get in touch with me and I will let you choose any one of my personal stash of AR's free of charge. Stay safe.

That is pretty damn cool. I thought the best benefit from being in the military Ive had was having some woman pay for my lunch after doing a full service funeral. Maybe she was just a sucker for a guy in uniform. From the research Ive put together about rifle quality it seems to me Colt is the best rifle to get, BUT alot of people seem to think they dont support the community like Bushmaster does. I just hope Colt turns around before I return after the new year.

Plenty of States don't care about the federal ban being lifted and have their own.
Other states like Michigan have already tried to pass their own.

Yes, I guess the ban has been such a huge success at election time for Democrats since '94 that the Republicans will be falling all over themselves to catch up.  I guess if it motivates you to purchase more weapons/ammo, more power to you and thanks for helping our economy and gun manufacturers.  But another ban anytime soon? Please . . .

Anyone who thinks it is going to happen while the republicans have a wide majority in the house, a good majority in the senate, and control of the white house has their head up their @55.

You claimed there would be a belt fed restriction soon, and a new AWB by february or SOONER.

Now, when pressed, you say you can't give a date.

You are full of it. Completely and utterly full of it. It isn't going to happen. They know how they got control of the house in 1994 and why the own the south today. It isn't because they're for gun control - but because they oppose it.

It's funny how the people who claim to have inside knowledge of politics often don't even have the slightest clue as to how it works.

Damn right, JLShooter!

The way I also see it is that if 'we' lose the '08 election, early' 09 will be a new AWB, and likely worse than we ever imagined. (the next one- if there is a next one- will not have the loopholes that we all drove our trucks thru the last time).

Hell, it could even happen under W, if something very bad happened and involved AR's/AK's

IIRC, the last one was preceded by some A-Hole going postal with an AK somewhere, which only made it fresh in the minds of the voting congress.

Get it while the gettin's good.
