If CMMG uses DPMS components to build their AR's why is there some many negative opinions about DPMS and so many positive ones about CMMG. I'm not trying to bash anyone, just wondering.

I would say that it boils down to quality control.  The folks at CMMG are great.

I don't think CMMG uses DPMS parts exclusively.  Even if they do, their attention to detail probably catches and prevents a lot of the "issues" you hear about with a off the shelf DPMS

If I am not mistaken CMMG only uses DPMS bolt, bolt carrier, and chargeing handle. I could be wrong but I think that's all they use thats DPMS or at least on thier uppers.       NeverNdn

I don't know about the bolt assemblies but I kow he uses DPMS barrels.  Seems like the receivers are DPMS too.

They used to have a special DPMS chrome lined barrel, only available thru them. What changed?

CMMG says "we used to use DPMS barrels, now we roll our own". I've got my CMMG upper ordered and on the way. The barrel is 4150, chrome lined and 1in 7 twist, and it's not DPMS. I don't know who actually makes them now.

There is nothing wrong with DPMS parts... it's how they are put together  that count... I've never had
a problem with DPMS parts.  Don't know why there have been some DPMS bashing going on lately...
if you look back through posts over the years,  DPMS has been very positive.
I think it happens when one person has a problem... such as a bolt carrier failure years ago and it then gets repeated over and over into an urban legend that DPMS bolts are crap.  The same is said when Bushmaster gets a few front sight bases on crooked or forgets to tighten key screws.
DPMS has the biggest AR-15 parts distribution in the whole country, and like everyone else, a bad part gets out now and then, but for the amount of DPMS parts out there,  I think they have one of the best records.

They make good products we are just talking about CMMG and the fact that they do use some DPMS parts but have started making their own barrels. There was some confusion that CMMG used all DPMS parts. IF DMPS wasnt any good CMMG wouldn't use their parts .........     NeverNdn
