A local guy has an upper for sale. How can I tell if it is a bushmaster? Not that I don't trust the gentleman but....
my bushy uppers near the rear sight are marked FK,DK and one has a keyhole mark.See if the barrel is marked BMP 1/9 NATO wich dosent mean the upper is Bushmaster but very well could be oh and see if the inside of the upper is grey. That would indicate a baked on dry film lube that Bushy,Colt and a few other quality upper builders use as that is the mil-spec for an upper.
He means there should be a releif cut on the bottom of the upper areound the rear take down pin lug.Thread releif is the unthreaded prtion of the upper behind the threads,Chamfers are the lateral looking cuts on the lug.If its more grey then that should be the baked on dry film..if its a Bushy marked barrel chances are it is..is the bottom of the carrier cut so the top of the firing pin is exposed?
Definately a Bushmaster barrel with all that.I have the exact same barrels with phantom I would say 99% Bushmaster sounds like all quality parts..the only things I changed on mine were RRA closed bottom carriers although my Bushmaster carbon #4 came with one...Definately Bushmaster. If you need a phantom on it you can send it back to them and they will only charge you for the part because its their assembly all you pay is the part and shipping each way wich is about $65 total.LKabor is free ,how much is he telling you?if you could get it for $400 that would be a great price as new its about $150 more.
